    Define "benefits".

I've never paid for Premium and never thought I was missing anything I needed.

    Not necessarily.

You haven't said anything about your goals, and that could matter.

In general, with free MFP a person can achieve weight loss, weight gain, or fitness improvement. Many of us here did exactly that. (I lost weight around 9 years ago, obese to healthy weight, using free MFP. Now I have premium, while maintaining weight.)

There are some nice features in premium. Some might help with weight loss, some give us more flexibility in fine-tuning our nutrition goals, etc. But they're not IMO essential.

What I usually suggest to people who aren't sure is that they try free MFP for 4-6 weeks, and learn the basics of using it. (The basics aren't really different between free and premium.) Once you understand the basics, it's a lot easier to evaluate the list of features that come with premium MFP, and decide if it's desirable for you, or not necessary.

If you have specific questions, though, please ask them!

I've never had Premium and have had good success. I'm not a meticulous macro logger, and the free stats are more than enough for me. Premium uses the same database, no advantages there. I don't need the additional 'feedback' and reporting you get with Premium. I really think that the Premium is only useful for people who are very serious about tracking specific data for their needs, generally it's just a handful of features that the regular person won't use or doesn't need.

Never used premium. Neither of the features have any practical use for me.
