What time do you stop eating for the day?

Is there a time of the day that you find it is best if you don't eat beyond that time. I've heard some people say that they don't like to eat after 7:00PM. What time do you stop eating for the day?

I try to make sure that I've finished chewing before my head hits the pillow but then again I've been known to snack in bed. Your body doesn't care when you feed it. All that stuff about not eating after XXpm is bunk.0

Best for what?
For digestion?
It's probably better to give your meals a few hours to digest before hitting the sheets, your body has a lot of functions it needs to perform while you're sleeping, digesting most of a large meal makes it more difficult.
For weight loss?
Doesn't matter.0 -
Hi
I have GERD, so I stopped eating 3 hours before going to bed.0 -
I try not to eat after 8pm but mostly b/c of my acid reflux and it makes it hard for me to sleep. As long as you're within your calories, you can eat any time you'd like.0

Being a Type II diabetic I have found that having a high protein drink around 8PM keeps my fasting glucose levels normal in the AM and somewhat curbs the hunger pangs. Last regular meal is around 5-6 PM.0

Usually I would try to not eat past 8PM because thats when endless late-night snacking would occur, so it helps me mentally to not mindlessly snack when I don't need to eat. That said, however, my schedule has been hectic lately so there are times when I eat really late, even 30 minutes before I sleep (10-11PM).
The only reason why I try to set a cut off time is because I'll tend to go over my calories at night...but if I have a lot left over that I didn't eat during the day, then I don't set a specific time to stop eating.
Sorry if this was unclear and confusing...hehe0 -
It doesn't matter when you eat/when you stop for the day. Just as long as you keep within your calories. Some people like to have those limits so they won't be tempted to let the after dark snack attack attack. Just play around with it and stick with what works best for you. :-)0

I stop eating when I'm not hungry anymore. Usually after my 9:00pm bowl of cereal.0

Normally I "eat" my last meal about 7 or 8 with dinner. I do have a protein shake later than that, frequently in the 11 PM - 1 AM time period. If I need a few calories, I'll throw in a McDonald's ice cream cone or hot fudge sundae late as well, but only if I need the calories.0

I like a snack just before bedtime, piece of toast, apple, hot chocolate that kind of thing.
Can't go to bed hungry.0 -
I know that your body doesn't take notice of what time of day you eat, but my brain does. If I start to eat in the evenings those vicious cravings will not stop. So after I've eaten healthy all day I don't want to sabotage my hard work in the evening. So yes, I do make an absolute stop eating time for myself. That time is 8 pm.0

Depends on when I get home on a particular day. I MUST have my nightly hummus and wheat thins... sometimes 8pm...sometimes 10pm.0

This is just a matter of personal preference unless you have digestive issues with eating too close to bedtime. I don't, and there's something about closing out my food log for the day that makes me hungry if I give myself too long to think about it. So I routinely have a bedtime snack.0

When I stop being hungry. BAM.
True story.0 -
I try to eat dinner at 7:30, 8:30 is the latest because I will have trouble sleeping at night. If I eat late I will get nightmares and wake up 5-8 times a night for whatever reason.0

There is no specific time. Eat at whatever time is convenient to meet your calorie needs. Some people like to stop earlier than others. I for one prefer to save about 300-500 calories for late night eating and typically eat that between 10 PM-MIdnight. I like a fully belly when I sleep.0

like someone said previously, i eat when i stop being hungry which is usually around 6pm for me. i don't encourage myself to snack after that either way because i will usually end up binging0

You made me snort out loud because when I read the topic, this is almost exactly what I was thinking...0 -

Eating after 7pm is a myth. It doesn't matter to weight loss. A calorie deficit is a calorie deficit no matter when you eat those calories. You can eat them with a fox. You can eat them in a box.0

Eat when you're hungry, just choose well.0

I am doing 16:8 fasting so I stop at 7:30, and start at 1130.0

I like to get most of my calories in earlier in the day but I generally like to eat something right before bed also (^_^;) yesterday that was at around 11pm...0

I stop eating for the day when I'm disgusted with myself. Usually 15 min before bed. I hate waking up hungry.0 -
I stop eating when I go to bed, when I'm out of calories, and/or when I'm no longer hungry.
If that means I'm done at 6 pm (out of calories), ok.
If I am eating at 11:30, it's not going to hurt anything.0 -
I stop eating when I go to sleep other than that meal frequency has no bearing on weight loss... Eat when you can get your calories in...... Best of Luck0

Take 1 omeprazole daily and you will not have those problems. It works differently then all those other things, ask your pharmacist about it. Patty0

Before I go to bed. I hate crumbs on the pillow.0

After using up all my calories I have breakfast if I'm hungry. Sometimes I have breakfast before my dinner. I don't have a cut off time, I stop eating for the day wherever my sleep (if any) falls.0

I can't sleep if I am hungry. I'll eat right before bed if I have to. my last meal is usually a couple hours before bed though.0
