Log the food you like to eat and learn from your FOOD diary. If you log it before you eat it that might help.
Try sticking to mostly whole foods. Vegetables, lean protein, whole fruit, whole grains, lowfat dairy, eggs, oils, nuts, legumes. I find that if I get some protein, fat, and carbs in each feeding it makes it easier and I stay full longer.
Once you log food you learn.4 -
You could pre-log meals in advance and try sticking to those meals all week..logging in about 200cal for breakfast, 500 for lunch and 500 calorie dinners works for me. I usually eat more like 1500-1600 calories since I've not much I want to lose, but the plan helps me to stick to the essentials/know how much I can go over and still maintain my weight.
for example,

That’s an awfully low calorie goal. I lost readily at 1470, and by the end of a year was still losing at 2100- and was much happier.
Where do you come up with that number? Unless you’re super short, that’s a challenge.
It’s better to lose slowly with a goal of keeping it off, than to jackrabbit loss and put it all back on.5 -
As for combos--tuna salad or egg salad on lettuce cups? Any fish(I love salmon) with veggies? Sheet pan dinners are so easy.
I'm a STRONG believer that trying to balance each meal and each snack helps to keep energy levels up.
For myself, if I eat a big high carb, low protein meal, I have 0 energy the next day.
How about you?1
