Precisely 2300 doesn't seem normal no, but coincidences do happen 😉
Without knowing what's in your diary, impossible to tel if it's likely. You should be aware though that the food database is crowdsourced, so many entries are incomplete (for example only calories and macros, but no micronutrient data).

2300 is the MFP default sodium goal for anyone and everyone, as far as I know.

You can assess and reset it, if you think that's appropriate.

Some people have health reasons to limit sodium/salt, and some additional people believe it's best to limit it in order to avoid future health complications. It's something you can think about in terms of your own eating preferences, and own personal and family medical history.

I don't have relevant health conditions, my blood pressure is good since weight loss 8 years ago, and my family history isn't rife with healthy-weight people who had sodium-related health problems. (Even the fat ones were pretty healthy/long-lived.) I literally don't worry about sodium intake, personally, though I know that statistically increases certain risk factors. I frequently exceed 2300, partly because I enjoy fermented foods that are very salty, such as sauerkraut and kim chi.

    Best wishes!

Also keep in mind that the sodium numbers in the database can be grossly wrong. Some countries don't provide sodium, but salt on nutritional labels. 1000mg of salt contains 387.6mg sodium. As the database is largely user-entered lots of people in countries that use salt instead of sodium simply enter the salt number, not realizing it's something different.

Not something I worry about now considering almost all my foods are whole foods and I actually have to remember to consume salt because of the fact I'm not consuming any processed foods where they're typically loaded with it and I also consume quite a bit of fermented food as well and I like salt and use more than most I would imagine, but my blood tests indicate that my sodium intake is not a problem, so like i said, I personally don't worry about it.

If like most Americans who are overweight or obese and consume a lot of UPF's then the problem of excess sodium is buried among the myriad of complications that are deleterious to our health in general which hypertension is just one of those symptoms which most Doctors instead of talking about lifestyle intervention generally tell their patience to consume less salt, duh!

Some countries that consume a lot of salt comparatively speaking but express good overall health like Japan and South Korea who both consume more salt than the average American basically shows it's a little more complicated where lifestyle is a better indicator for overall health without using reductive thinking and zeroing in on one factor to fix things.
