It helps to choose a routine you like (or at the very least don't actively dislike) and that is reasonable taking into account your fitness level, available time, etc.
If you go gradually, it should be easier to turn it into a habit, just like doing laundry etc.1 -
Consistency is key to results. Re lifting, tracking your progress and making progress should help.
Some lifting exercises are slightly better than others by various metrics, but consistency, progression, intensity and nutrition are all far more important. My point being, if you don't like a particular exercise, feel free to do something different for that muscle group instead. There are many options. The same logic applies to cardio.0 -

The same way you stay consistent with brushing your teeth, getting out of bed when your alarm goes off, putting clothes on to go to work. You just put it in your daily schedule and do it. That being said, some people never will. Put it in at the time m e of day that's most convenient for you and don't make the the sessions longer than you're willing to actually do. Willing and able to do 15 minutes when you get home from work before you start dinner? Great! Do that! Don't listen to people who say "ohhh, but you need to do this this this and this!!!!!". BS. Do what works for you. If you already know that an hour every day I isn't reasonable for you to commit to, don't. Do what YOU can.0
