Hi!
I have avoided fitness most of my life except for sporadic yoga. I was pretty petite until a medication caused me to gain about 30 pounds two years ago. I am 5’2” and weighed about 125. Since stopping the medication my weight has hovered around 145 to 150 pounds. I don’t look terrible but a lot of it is in my belly and my arms and face could be thinner…
I know about BMR/calorie deficits etc but I will admit I do like my creamer, juice, and carbs. I honestly some days do not eat that much but sabotage myself other days.
Anyway, I snagged a great used walking pad today and plan on starting mat pilates. I have off 4 days a week I can exercise. Work days are hit or miss if I move around a lot or not.
I want to start things that are not too intense that I will follow through with but that will also bring results. I would love to get back under 130 pounds, but would be happy at a more toned 135. I’m at about 146 right now.
Any suggestions or success stories using these methods are welcome! I am 37f also. TIA!

Best advice is the (extremely irritating but true) ad slogan : Just do it!
I went from a sedentary and admittedly lazy and greedy 58 year old to very active. I just made the mindset, I’m doing this for me and no one else.
I did find the more I moved, the more I craved movement.
The more I moved, the more willing I became to try other things, too. At 59, I ran my first mile since I was a 14 year old, and then made up my own version of Couch 2 5k (aka here as C25K). I was proud as heck of my own self the first time I ran 5k.
We recently wrapped up five or six weeks of travel. There was nowhere to work out, women running (anyone, apparently) was frowned upon where we were, no room anywhere to practice yoga, and I got too sick to use the swim gear I’d drug along from home. I thought getting back into my routine at home again would be hard, but I’m already falling back in to it, and very grateful to have the mindset in place to do so, too. So different than five years ago.
Just find things you enjoy doing. You like yoga? Step it up a notch. Try power yoga, etc.
I added weights to build upper body strength for yoga arm balances and discovered I actually enjoy messing with weights. I was chuffed last night when our young goofy male aquafit instructor told the class “there’s some jacked old women in this gym” and then looked at me, grinned, and gave me a thumbs up.
Aquafit and a broken toe (tried trapeze lessons, didn’t end well and hubs has forbidden more) led to lap swimming, which I really enjoy.
Find what you enjoy or what intrigues you and at least give it a try. Let one thing open a door to the next thing. I love having a variety of workout options. With four days a week off, you have a true luxury to experiment.
Bike, skateboard , jump rope, dance, aerial silks, roller blade, intensive hide and seek with the kids, rebounder, just MOVE. Your body doesn’t care.2
