@Emilienewme That's great about your daughter's skating and the mums walking while the girls practice. You're doing great with your running.
Great intervals @yirara ! Glad it felt good.
Congratulations @steviebee888 ! You don't even look tired!
I'm sorry to hear about your blood sugar going low @martaindale . Great job finishing the run. I hope you feel better now. How long is that race in your neighborhood?
@Scott6255 You are doing great to do what you can when you can. Sometimes there just aren't enough hours in the day.
@Teresa502 That sounds like a great run and friend that set up the aid station sounds a bit like something you would do. I'm glad you liked the super hero muffins. I've been meaning to cook some....haven't had any for a while.
@Avidkeo I hope you feel better tomorrow. I don't blame you for skipping the wet run today. I'm also glad that you got some one on one time with the ten year old. Sewing is a great skill to learn. Do you take Zinc? I think that helps me.
Great race and great race report @kgirlhart! Congratulations on your placements. You would have probably gotten a PR on a flatter course. Definitely a successful race!

I wasn't feeling like running this morning and that feeling continued even after I got started. It was a tough run mentally and physically. I felt like I was putting a whole lot more effort into it than showed in the pace. After looking back at the last run of the same distance and route, I was a little slower, but not horribly so. My running splits were 13:29, 13:22, 13:42, and the half mile was 10:32 min/mile. My Avg pace for the run was 13:05 min/mile. Avg HR was 125 with a max of 153 bpm.
We are supposed to get some much needed rain tomorrow (sounds wrong to say that after the floods last month), so I cleaned out the gutters again and blew/swept off the porches and part of the driveway.8 -
Great race report @kgirlhart ,,, Those elevation changes look brutal. My shins are hurting just looking at the charts.
@quilteryoyo the mental part is the hardest usually for me also. You did great! and today is your day off hope you get some rain!
@martaindale hope that you have recovered the blood sugar today. Pretty scary - I have only gotten myself too dehydrated before.
@Scott6255 work has been a nightmare here also but with our forced vacation I am trying to learn to just let it go. I was once out of work a few months after our factory closed in 2005 and I realized that honestly work does not care about you. Prioritize yourself because when all is said and done throwing yourself into the work only hurts you ....
@Teresa502 speaking of muffins. I have had a yen for the past MONTH for a vanilla creme Dunkin Donut. Yesterday i finally looked up the cal carnage and it's only 300 (probably a lie) per donut so I went and searched to find some and bought a dozen! OK no I did not eat them all. But I did have one and it was as wonderful as I remembered. I froze the rest and will consume over the next month or two and hopefully not binge on them.
Congratulations @steviebee888 ! That's a wonderful photo. YOu look amazing.
I did end up looking at that dang email yesterday afternoon but it was not as bad so far as I thought. About 300 of them. I wish there was an AI which would shows WHICH ones needed to be saved and read more carefully but 🤷♀️ I don't really. At least I did not have any urgent IMs. I think I could try to "thread" then to see if that helps organize.
Yesterday's run was perfect weather. And I did not plan it but I did get 7 miles in for a total of 37 out of 100 goal. I am also almost at 1300 for the year (1296) which is not as good by a long shot as some past years (I even ran the year a few years back) but still not bad for this ole gal. 😎 And yesterday afternoon I got a tickle in my right sinus or something and could NOT stop sneezing and blowing my nose. Not sick but I think some pollen got up my nose on my afternoon walk and wow. It's not so bad this morning but I went thru almost a box of kleenex. That has happened a few times before over the years - mostly at work - and always the same side. so strange.
WOW that's chatty. Here is my one of my favorite morning glory photos. I can't get them this intense this year because they in the friggin TOP of my desert willow tree this year even tho I planted them all over.
6 -
Afternoon all.
I got in 5.6M at 10"32 pace.
@kgirlhart @steviebee888 well done ladies on the Half marathons! 🙌🏽
@kgirlhart Whataburger after a long run sounds great!!
The biggest achievement though... @SummerSkier demolishing a dozen Dunkins! 😂
You are my hero. 😂
Speaking of burgers and food...
@quilteryoyo @martaindale hahahaha... I insisted on the reservation being not a second before Noon. Just so I could order something that didn't involve runny egg yolks and avocado! 😂
Venison burger with bacon...
Oh, and I need to share this too. I had the most amazing dessert. It was this Banana parfait thing with caramel icecream and crushed nuts.
HeavenlyCheck out this YouTube short on what/how they make it.

Thanks @SummerSkier Great job on the 7 miles and love the morning glory. I'm also glad that you aren't letting work spoil your vacation. I hate it when I start sneezing and can't quit. I'm glad you are better this morning.
Great run @tarun_yadavA . Hahahaha about the reservation having to be after noon. You are too funny. Curious, do you eat eggs? I have one almost every morning for breakfast. That food looks scrumptious. I watched the video. That's really cool. I thought that was a "real" banana. Do you eat the banana skin or is it just for show?2 -
@quilteryoyo I did eat the skin! It was weird... But good!
I eat eggs. 4 egg omelette daily. Which is why I wince at having to pay upwards of £10 for one fancy poached egg with a runny yolk atop some some avocado.6 -
@steviebee888 I love your medal
@Avidkeo what a great thing to do teaching your 10 year old to see, I am not brave enough to let mine use my sewing machine and they are 10 and 13!
@kgirlhart those hills look lethal! Well done on your race that's an amazing time considering the elevation change
@quilteryoyo thank you, hopefully now that my husband is back I can find a bit more time for running and catch up with my goal
Goal : 80km for November
2nd Nov 🏃♀️ 5.06 km in 35:36 min (pace 7:02/km) Saturday parkrun
3rd Nov 🏃♀️ 5.02 km 36:05 min (pace 7:11/km) usual Sunday mums run + 🚶♀️ 2.5 km walk around the ice rink
5th Nov 🚶♀️3.14 km walk around the ice rink
7th Nov 🚶♀️ 3.6 km walk around the top of the rink when my daughter was training
10th Nov 🏃♀️ 5.22 km in 36 min (pace 6.55 / km ) speed repeat: warm up, 1min fast 1min slow x10, cool down, with one other skating mum during the kids training
+ 🚶♀️ 4.2 km ice rink walk
15.30 km done, 64. 7 km to go5 -
Well done @kgirlhart! You did so well with all those hills thrown in! Love the photos - you look strong and amazing! The hoodie looks so comfy. Congratulations!3
-
I’m glad that I watched the video @tarun_yadavA. I thought it was just a banana plated up real fancy but it’s so much more!
@SummerSkier - You showed great willpower with the donuts!
@Emilienewme it’s nice that the other skating moms are active also and will run and walk with you during practice.
Hope you feel better soon @Avidekeo!3 -
Great job on your HM @kgirlhart 👏👏 2nd place AG is awesome, and yes those hills would have killed me.3
-
@tarun_yadavA not sure I could do the dozen at one time but I get I could hurt myself with 6 or 8. LOL. I watched the video and interesting that it's not a REAL banana but a mousse shaped like one. I still would not eat the skins.... lol. nope. Even though they are carmalized.
Got in a 10K today to go over 1300 for the year. The weather was perfection and altho I thought my legs would be tired from the 7 yesterday I was probably donut fueled....🤷♀️ It is a little annoying to me that I can barely get my pace under 11 min per mile when a just a few years back I was consistently under 10. I think the answer is more donuts?
And speaking of rules about eating I absolutely will not eat chocolate before noon. All my life? What's up with that?5 -
Thanks @quilteryoyo,
@summerskier,
@tarun_yadavA,
@emilienewme,
@Teresa502 &
@scott6255!
The hills were definitely brutal and I am pretty sore this morning. But it is a good sore, not an injured sore.
All of your food pictures look awesome @tarun_yadavA .
@quilteryoyo and @Teresa502 I wouldn't mind having that yam muffin recipe.
@SummerSkier I took 2 dozen donuts to my office on Friday. I love donuts, but I don't eat them often because they aren't very filling to me. I ended up eating 5 of them. I had 2 for breakfast and the 2 in the afternoon. When I got ready leave at 5 there was one left, and I couldn't just throw it away. So maybe the answer is donuts. 😊6 -
Hi everyone and lots of new people and welcome back @Advidkeo.
I’m having a rubbish month because of work and only 2 runs and some bike so far.
Our weather has been unbelievably mild which makes it even more frustrating.
I’m in for 50 but hopefully will hit 408 -
02.11 5.0km 39min 7:48/km - slow-ish
03.11 5.1km 39min 7:43/km - 4x3min fast
04.11 4.1km 31min 7:30/km - 15x 20x speed bursts
06.11 3.0km 23min 7:46/km - slow and shite
09.11 5.0km 38min 7:42/km - slow
10.11 4.0km 31min 7:41/km - 2x4min, 1x2min fast
26.21km
Running went quite well, but still had to stop. Binged on an artificial sweetener candy.. and you probably know what some artificial sweeteners in too big amounts do, right? 😬🙈6 -
Thanks for all the well wishes. Still feeling like something brewing but so far my ignoring it is working.
Pilates session this morning. Turns out I can sit from laying without using my knees or hands, it's something about my pilates machine. The carriage is a bit short - which says something cause I'm short! So I can do it on the floor, but not on my reformer. Oh well. This is a cheap fold up version. If I'm still using it in the new year, I might spring for a good version.
I will run tomorrow morning, and am looking forward to it.
Also, I'm down almost 3kg (6.5lb) in 2 weeks. Always nice when starting out! My bras fit better so have some progress yaya!8 -
Nov total: 30.6 miles
YTD: 883.3/1200 miles
11/2: 8.4 miles
11/3: 4.3 miles
11/4: 4.2 miles
11/5: 3.4 miles
11/6: 2.4 miles
11/9: 6.4 miles
11/10: 3.3 miles
Recovery run this morning. My legs were pretty heavy this morning even though my run yesterday wasn't very long. I think just a little hangover from yesterday's hypoglycemia.
Feeling fine today. Yesterday was stupid. I know better than to push my luck like that and that little reminder will keep me on top of my fueling.

@kgirlhart You did great! You were moving fast for such a hilly course.
@tarun_yadavA That dessert is so cool! And sounds delicious.quilteryoyo wrote: »How long is that race in your neighborhood?
I think it's a 5k and 10k.
@Avidkeo Fingers crossed for you. Being sick is the worst. Congrats on the early weight loss too!5 -
Great run today @Emilienewme .
Great run today @SummerSkier . Did your family have that rule about chocolate when you were growing up? How about chocolate milk? Does that count?
Humm. Maybe I should go buy some donuts @kgirlhart and @SummerSkier . But, I don't really enjoy donuts unless they are the plan cake ones. My neighbor thinks I am weird. Well, if someone else buys them, I'll eat the glazed ones, but definitely prefer plain.
I hope work settles down for you too @Mari33a .
Ooops @yirara .
Great progress @Avidkeo !
Just did my normal Sunday mile walk on the treadmill after church and before lunch today. Brings my total for the month up to 33.25/80.00 miles.
7 -
Morning all.
Got in 5.0M at 10"25 pace.
I'm glad you guys liked the Banana dessert video. It was delicious.
@SummerSkier 100% with you Bon! On your 'No chocolate before noon' thing. My (weird) "thing" probably encompasses that. I won't touch anything sweet before something savoury or salty. Wince at the thought. People that do drive thrus and start eating their McFlurry soft serves while they wait for their Nuggets to get done... Urgh. No. Just NO!!!6 -
Congrats on your great race @kgirlhart!! With running such a hilly course you should be very proud of your time!! It may not be a PR (oh so close) but it is definitely a great PR for hilly races! 👍🏻👏🏻. Great photos!
Congrats on your HM as well @steviebee888!! You look great and happy!😃
Thank you all for the kind words and hugs @tarun_yadavA @AmunahSki @kgirlhart @AlphaHowls @Scott6255 @Avidkeo @ContraryMaryMary @quilteryoyo @SummerSkier @Emilienewme @martaindale & @Teresa502. My husband still works full time and I work part time, so being home seems so quiet and empty without our dog.
Great daily run reports all! Ya’ll are amazing! Keep up the great work!8 -
Target 50 miles/80.45k
3 Nov: 2.65mi/4.26k
6 Nov: 2.17mi/3.49k
8 Nov: 2.99mi/4.91k
10 Nov: 4.99mi/8.02K
Total 12.8mi/20.59k
My long RunWalkRun today… with cool dry weather, and mentally being very happy, I developed a mystery pain in my left leg (knee/hip) about halfway through, which meant I did more walking than I wanted to as I wasn’t sure if it was something I could/should work through or not: afterwards, I had to drive (1hr 20m journey) for a meeting, and bending over at the waist (to peer into a drain) was sharply painful at the hip. I could also feel the same pain getting in and out of the car.
I will see how it goes, and pause the Garmin Coach and do some yoga and walking (maybe a bit of gentle indoor rowing) until things feel right again, as the hill repeats are supposed to start this week. Maybe Coach Jeff has claimed another casualty, and I should swap back to Coach Greg (as I never missed a single run on his plan, despite being a complete novice)?
5 -
another 4 this morning so up to 47 out of 100 goal for the month.
I think the no chocolate or sweets thing before noon stems from the idea of veggies before desert embedded in us as kids or something. I have no trouble with a bloody mary or orangejuice champagne in the morning tho. 😳
I am with you on the glazed donut. Not my faves altho they go down fast they feel mostly like air. And here the Krispie Kremes are famous altho I prefer the cake donuts from Dunkin - give me a nice powdered creme or jelly any time... Dang I can't get off this topic.4 -

11.11 4.1km 31min 7:31/km - 15x speed bursts
30.28km
Hey, looks like I'm getting quite good at running 4km 😅 Now lets see if I can extend that to 5km as well.7 -
Morning all.
Yeah no desert before dinner is ingrained! Also means when I buy lunch it's something savory and a sweet! Trying to fruit these days. And yes no chocolate before noon, unless it's Christmas haha
5k today. Was attempting a tempo run and my pace is definitely faster but ran out of steam 2/3 of the way through so just rounded to 5k. Feels nice to be getting a faster pace. Didn't help my abs were sore from yesterday's pilates session!7 -
November Goal: 100 miles
11/1: 8.20 miles
11/3: 5.02 miles
11/5: 4.02 miles
11/7: 4.26 miles
11/9: 13.20 miles
11/11: 2.52 miles
37.23/100 miles completed for November
Thanks @martaindale and @daria0919. My legs are still feeling those hills.
I got out today for 2.5 miles. It was really tough as my quads are still quite sore. I took it easy though and will probably be taking it easy the rest of the week as well.
@summerskier I will eat chocolate any time of the day. I do like glazed donuts, but my favorites are blueberry cake and lemon filled. I don't care for the chocolate iced glazed donuts. The chocolate is always disappointing to me.

@kgirlhart - The muffin recipe is in the spoiler below.Yam Spice Superhero Muffins
Are you a fan of the Run Fast, Eat Slow series by Shalane Flanagan and Elyse Kopecky? Their latest cookbook, Rise and Run is now available and might be the best of the bunch! With 2 dozen Superhero Muffin recipes, you really can't go wrong, but this fall flavor is going to be our pre-Turkey Trot fuel for sure!
Ingredients
• 2 cups almond flour or almond meal
• 1½ cups rolled oats
• 1 teaspoon baking soda
• 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
• ½ teaspoon fine sea salt
• ½ cup chopped walnuts or pecans (optional)
• 3 eggs
• 2 cups grated peeled sweet potato or yam (about 2)
• 1⁄3 cup maple syrup or honey
• 4 tablespoons (½ stick) unsalted butter, melted
• 2 tablespoons grated fresh ginger
Instructions
1. Position a rack in the center of the oven. Preheat the oven to 350°F. Line a 12-cup standard muffin tin with paper liners.
2. In a large bowl, combine the almond flour, oats, baking soda, cinnamon, salt, and walnuts (if using).
3. In a separate bowl, whisk together the eggs, sweet potato, maple syrup, melted butter, and ginger. Add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients and mix until just combined. The batter will be thick.
4. Spoon the batter into the prepared muffin cups, filling each to the brim. Bake until the muffins are nicely browned on top and a knife inserted into the center of a muffin comes out clean, 30 to 35 minutes.
5. Store leftover muffins in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 1 week or in the freezer for up to 3 months. Reheat in the oven at 300°F for 10 minutes or microwave on low power for 30 seconds.
They are rather dense than a regular muffin but very tasty and filling!5 -
@Teresa502 thank you for sharing the recipe, I will try it (will need to buy sweet potatoes first)
I am a chocolate any time of the day kind of girl but can't have any savoury after anything sweet, even if it's just a fruit
Goal : 80km for November
2nd Nov 🏃♀️ 5.06 km in 35:36 min (pace 7:02/km) Saturday parkrun

+ 🚶♀️ 4.2 km ice rink walk
11th Nov 🏃♀️ 5.91 km in 45 minutes (easy run from my Garmin plan) I was tired from work and really didn't feel like going but i got myself out and stuck to the pace needed and I felt great for it
21.21 km done, 58.79 km to go6 -
@AmunahSki I'm sorry that your knee/hip is hurting you. Hopefully a day or two of rest is all it's needs. What do you think it might be about Jeff's plan that is bothering you?
@SummerSkier Funny that you should mention the all veggies before dessert thing. We were always told that too. I took a class for the daycare that talked about food and one of the things it taught me was that we shouldn't try to get the kids to eat everything else first and then dessert, because you make it sound like dessert is a reward and, therefore, somehow better than all the other food. That had never crossed my mind before, but it is so true.
Great running @yirara .
Yeah for faster pace @Avidkeo . Also, yeah for sore abs. Means you worked hard and next time will be better.
Great recovery running @kgirlhart .
Congrats on getting out and getting it done when you didn't feel like it @Emilienewme !

36.25/80 mile goal
I went to the gym this morning. I did deadlift today...did 110 pounds, not a PR, but good, I think.
It had been raining, so I decided to run on the treadmill while at the gym...no one else was there trying to share it. The running portion was at a 13:02 min/mile pace, which I'm okay with. Their treadmill is manual, so it doesn't keep you at a certain pace. It takes a bit to get used to, but I think it mimics outdoors more. (I do like the pacing part of a traditional TM though.)
Afterwards, I met a friend at Applebee's for a free lunch for Veterans day. They had 6 menu items you could get. I got the 6 oz sirloin with garlic mashed potatoes and broccoli. It's been a while since I've had steak, so was glad to get it for free.7 -
Nov total: 34 miles
YTD: 886.7/1200 miles
11/2: 8.4 miles
11/3: 4.3 miles
11/4: 4.2 miles
11/5: 3.4 miles
11/6: 2.4 miles
11/9: 6.4 miles
11/10: 3.3 miles
11/11: 3.4 miles
Slightly cooler this morning and super dense fog. Running felt better this morning too. Had a pretty easy day at work and finally got the last of halloween decorations taken down this afternoon.3
