    Helped Tracy out this morning and then they went to see Daddy at lunch..then cane home and Tracy took them for a wagon ride..so all went well..
    I came home and took a nap.. lol

    Barbie - That blanket is fabulous. I know it's for prem babies, but it would make a great cushion cover! >:)

    I had success at M & S yesterday. I tried on four pairs of casual, soft trousers, and settled on a kind of wide legged pant, in black. They have a slight crease down the front and are v comfortable. My waist size is bigger than my hip size, so I have to find stretchy waists. They don't have pockets, which is disappointing, but they do fit well.
    I prowled the store for other things, but the lined, thermal joggers I liked had elastic round the bottom. We try to keep the heating to a minimum in the daytime, so it helps if I'm wearing something warm. I often give in and give myself an hour's heat! :o
    It was really cold in the store, and I wasn't wearing a coat, anticipating a warm environment. Other people were complaining, and the till girl put her padded jacket on. Long queue for my egg sandwich and Earl Grey, but it was delicious. Then I bought two fillet steaks for our anniversary, and some dark chocolate with nuts for John, as part of his morning presents. They are all complete now.
    Bus home, in time for the cleaner.

    While I was out, Saga insurance rang about our two cruises. John was able to answer all her questions, so we are now insured.

    Bea pick up has been cancelled today because her violin lesson has been moved to today for just this week. Bea is going to give her teacher the painting she did last Monday.
    We are seeing them on Thursday for babysitting, and John will be cheering Edie on at the cross-country championships tomorrow lunchtime.

    Might do some painting together this afternoon. I need to make him a card. I do it behind a screen. :-)

    Vicki - so glad you popped in! I can't remember if I suggested checking with AAA (Area Agency on Aging) in your area, they might have some ideas.

    Also, you might want to check with an employment agency that hires temps if you haven't already. Sometimes businesses are looking for someone for a few months to fill in for an employee on maternity leave, for example. And often, if the business likes the temp they find a permanent position for that person.

    These temp positions usually don't have any benefits and the pay isn't great, but are a good way to keep skills up and get some new ones and put feelers out.

    Employment agencies can be great!

    I've worked for 3 employment agencies.

    1) I took a 6-month document control position between a cycling tour of Australia and starting my Bachelor of Education. And I kept going back and going back during summer breaks, during winter breaks, and here and there in between! I ended up working at that position on and off for 4 years.

    That place had a policy of hiring via employment agencies. They had a very small HR team.

    2) One summer in the middle of the above, I wanted to try something different so I got a receptionist position for an architectural firm. It was a great experience and I learned a lot.

    3) When I moved to Australia, and could work, I signed on with an employment agency who set me up with an interview for a 4-month engineering tech position. I stayed for 2 years, then travelled the world for 8 months, then returned for another 6 months.


    So yes, try several employment agencies but be discerning ... when I applied at each of the places, I indicated that I was an engineering technologist with business administration qualifications. I was willing to take document control, engineering tech, admin assistant and related positions.

    I was, however, NOT willing to take the position one rather dodgy place offered me ... a one-night position being a clown at a sports event. And I didn't appreciate it when they tried to threaten me with, "if you turn down positions, you'll get a bad reputation and no one will hire you". I pulled my name off their list.

    Tracey ~ Love the houses! How do you get them to light up? Do you have to buy lots of individual strings of battery run lights?

    Sue ~ Hope the cabin cleanup will give you a better chance to hire future renters who will not destroy your property and make threats. Over the last 20 years we have had to evict two renters from our first house but now have a lady that has lived there for 10 yrs with no problem. Probably because we finally hired a rental agent to find her instead of trying to do it ourself.

These fourteen-year-olds have been stealing their mom's car and joyriding. Unfortunately, they didn't know what they were doing. My guy was ejected out of the passenger window.

    Lanette, I wore those pants home from the hospital after having a C-section, a Hysterectomy that was done laparoscopically, and no irritation like jeans would have done.

    Barbara, that girl's mom, was hooked on drugs. Drug addicts will sell their legs for a quick fix. It is sad but true. Now, the young lady is safe and will be under psychiatric care.

    Lisa, I wish you well on your craft sale. Have you ever considered becoming an Etsy vendor or selling online and in person?

    Heather, 400 words is a lot of progress.

    We used to run a lot more organized races in Washington? We only pay to run this one which is every November. We still run on the treadmill at the gym tho.

    I wrote 500 words this morning, about the time I was so nearly run over when we first moved here. John saved me by pulling me back at the last second! Next session, the time I could so easily have been run over when I broke my wrist. :p:p:p

    In the midst of life ........

    After lunch we both settled down to paint cards for each other, af opposite ends of the table, behind screens. I enjoyed that. I used some new tubes of watercolour, which always feels special.

    Veal escalopes for dinner. I almost burnt the leeks I was cooking to go with them, as I was concentrating on my painting. They are slightly charred, but will be all the more delicious for it. Also having broccoli. Stewed plums for dessert.

    Great British Bake Off tonight. :D

    We actually saw some sun today! :o

    I use Hope80/20 with the Healthie app. Free app and you can do the program for free, just no videos or personal coaching. It is a pre-diabetes plan based off the My Plate plan from the FDA. Another free plan with an app. Look online, there is a lot out there for free. I found the Hope 80/20 very helpful and post information from my plan once a month. You get 6 months of weekly tips then once a month. It is a one year plan. I hope this helps you Penny!

    Cut the grass. In a few I need to leave for the chiropractor. Started out wearing pants, but it is warm out so I changed to shorts. Bet I’ll need pants for ceramics tonight

    M – got a bee question for you. We have, what I think is a nest, between bricks that are in our drain. How can I get rid of them?

    Lisa – Vince painted the racecar and I did the mushroom. Both things will go out by the pool. YOUR invited? I’m constantly amazed at the grammar typos that the newspaper makes. If you were to expect anyone to use correct grammar, you would think a newspaper would. But so many times they don’t

    barbie – I used to always make something for all the kids for Christmas. But now I only make something for Jessica. Denise doesn’t appreciate it so I just get her a gift certificate to WalMart since I know that’ll be used. Have a good visit
