Why my bingeing happens: this might help others

I’m really writing this for myself. I notice that I gain significantly when I go shopping because I buy things and take little “bites” of everything. If there’s one thing I’ve learned while on this weight loss journey, it’s that the bites are what cause the gain. Either choose to have a serving size of something and track it without feeling guilty, or don’t have it at all. Taking “bites” of things without knowing the exact amount of something can lead to bingeing. Thought this might help others too!

I’ve realized lately my binging is boredom. If my hands and mind aren’t fully occupied I go grazing. That’s an issue when visiting family, or during rest breaks in travel.

I need to find a super low cal “default” food that’s easily available during periods like this.

Sadly, Customs in most countries would look askance at a pocket full of radishes.

I read a study once which suggested the average professional chef consumes an extra 100 calories per day simply from taste-testing what they are preparing, resulting in a gain of 10+ lbs per year simply from taste-tests.

@springlering62 while whole radishes may not be greeted warmly, what about a sandwich bag filled with sliced radishes, or red bell pepper ribbons, or carrot sticks? You're not allowed to have more than one in your mouth at a time, have to finish chewing one before you get the next...

Can’t bring fresh fruit or veg into other countries, and getting to a grocery store (much less a sharp knife!) or refrigerating them while traveling is often not an option.

I’m already on the Sausage List (long story). Last thing I need is to be put on the Radish List about the time they’ve finally decided I’m not smuggling sausage.

I saw an Agriculture beagle alert on a guy in baggage claim with a pocket full of apples following an international flight. This oaf kicked the sniffer dog. I thought the trainer was going to take him down on the spot. And would have been pleased to see it.
