Calorie adjustment

I am set to lightly active on mfp. I’m 5’1 43 and 185 . I want to lose 40 pounds. Currently I get 10,000 steps or more which may or may not include treadmill time.

My eating goal is set at 1790 per day. I also use a Fitbit charge 2.
Each app is set to lose 1 pound a week.

I think I’ve been getting adjustments bigger than I should be and wanted to check with others to see if i understand how this works correctly.

For example: yesterday my total daily burn on Fitbit was 2356 calories. I had 10,700 steps. The adjustment at the end of the day was +356. So 1790 + 356 = 2146. Since I only burned 2356 according to Fitbit. Shouldn’t I have only had an adjustment of less than 100 calories since my goal on mfp is 1790 per day?

Should it have been 2356 ( from Fitbit) -
my 500 calorie deficit to equal= 1856

Is this an inaccuracy or is this part of the bug that is currently going on ?

For now I plan to stick with the mfp eating goal for a month or so and see what the actual results are . Still I’m curious if I’m understanding how the adjustments work.

Hm, the math doesn't seem to be mathing.
Fitbit says your TDEE was 2356 for the day. Minus 500kcal for a deficit that corresponds with 1lb per week, that should give you an adjusted goal of 1,856 as you said. (So 1790+adjustment of 66).

On thing I do wonder (because I had that issue): have you had that goal of 1790 for a while? Because, if you've lost some weight already, your TDEE goes down BUT MFP doesn't update automatically. So it's a good idea to go through the guided set-up again and confirm your goals and activity level and see if your base calorie goal changes. I had been losing weight for months (without updating my goal) and also saw strange numbers and it was because of this reason.

I recently just started back consistently logging. So I just reset all my goals but It was right in the middle of the bug that’s been going on. I wonder if that is happening.
