Good morning, when you set your goal in the app it will help you and tell you about how much calories you should eat.

There are also sections in the blog and there are plans within my fitness pal that will help you make healthy food choices.

And if you have the premium version of the app it will allow you to monitor your macros which can show you which foods have too much sugar based on your goals.

Glad that you're here and that you're getting started. It's okay not to know or understand everything as you begin your journey.

I wanted to respond to your isssue with sugar. I go with "no added sugar". I eat fruit that has lots of sugar. I find that with sweets, I'm better with out of sight out of mind. We don't have it in the house. I step away from sweets at people's houses. If I eat sugar, I want more sugar. I'm having pie and ice cream at Thanksgiving but that is it for the month.

    Good luck n your plan.

Gorun, I agree with you. If I said to myself that I will NEVER EVER eat sweets again, it would be an impossible task. I budget for it. For example, my husband (who is thin/lean as a rail) made a chocolate cake yesterday with vanilla frosting. I had two SMALL forkfuls. It was delicious, but I had no intention of eating the slice. He put the rest in the fridge, covered in foil (which I leave alone). Whenever he has a slice (which is always after dinner), I will have my two forkfuls. I like a little sweet after dinner, just like him. Now his candy...........I ask him to please hide. If I truly want a piece, I ask, but I don't need a candy dish/bowl staring at me in the face. I already have that issue at work (particularly since it's the holiday season) but I'm so busy at work I find it to be less of a temptation.
