Virtual check-in

Hi all,
This morning I was "talking" with an AI about my fitness, the problems I'm experiencing and possible solutions. Actually it was a "good talk" and the AI suggested that I find someone away from me who I can speak to virtually every week to talk about what went well fitness wise this week and remind me to stay focused when things don't go so well. Thus essentially, holding me to account.

With that in mind, is this something that any of the weight loss and strength training men would be interested in helping me with? Obviously I would do the same for them in a weekly Zoom or Teams meeting.

I'm not men ;) , but I think you might find some threads or groups here that could help you with weight loss and/or strength training. Those kinds of things are relatively more common in these parts of the Community:

    https://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/categories/motivation-and-support
    https://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/categories/challenges

For workout/strength training advice, I think this may be the best category to ask for advice, because it's more active:

    https://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/categories/fitness-and-exercise

There is a Goal: Gaining Weight and Body Building section that does get posts and responses, including from/for people who are losing weight while strength training. Most of the people who reply there also seem to reply in the Fitness section, and the Fitness section has more activity.

In any area, it will help if you're specific in your thread titles, if you post a question. (Example: "What workout split best for my goals and situation?" at the more specific end; "Help me!" at the not-specific end.) In your post, include details that might affect advice, if you know what those are. (I'm not talking super-personal stuff, but rather things like age, height/weight, personal goals behind the question, maybe what you're now considering doing. The more specific the post, the more nuanced/tailored the replies can be.)

IME, most people here are quite helpful and kind, better than the average social network environment. However, you find a diversity of communication styles, from "tough love" to "warm'n'fuzzy" . . . from brief/pithy to detailed . . . but I think nearly all truly want to help others. (Obviously, I'm "team detailed" :D ).

This may be iffier, but I'd also encourage you to be open-minded about women's input. For one, I think there may be relatively more women here. For two, I think we have more in common when we're losing weight and gaining fitness than you might anticipate (maybe), regardless of gender. Third, there are some women here with really excellent strength training accomplishment, education and experience that they will share and that applies to both men and women.

On the Community side of MFP, there's very little of catfishing, flirting, and that kind of thing (at least outside of Chit-Chat and Fun and Games areas, where things may get a bit more flirty - I don't post there.)

Do watch out for friend requests or DMs from MFP "friends" in some cases: Those are more hidden from public view, and can be more exploited by catfishers, marketers or other come-ons, though not everyone there does that. If you do get private posts like that, report them to MFP (to limit how much they victimize others) and block them. MFP takes those things seriously, too, much better than any other social platform I've used, but they need us to report the baddies (and they won't tell who reported them - trust me, they have sent inappropriate stuff to others, not just you!). I give the identical advice to women.

Note that here in the Community, there are rules against providing outside contact links (Insta, phone #, email address, Zoom, TikTok, personal blogs, etc.) I think that's because those are so easily exploited/exploiting for nefarious reasons. Community Guidelines are here: https://www.myfitnesspal.com/community-guidelines

Best wishes for success: The rewards are very much worth the effort!
