Come on MFP - I’m one of the supporters on here. If you’re going to remove my post about potential hacking of data at least respond to my logged tech request!

So, before this gets taken down, the company Joy Health is apparently using the data which was hacked when UA owned the company.

Up to anyone else whether they trust a company that buys hacked data and thinks it’s ethically okay. Mind you, my effort to warn people was obvs not appreciated by MFP either!

    A couple questions.

    1. How is this about the "potential hacking of data"? There was a data breach back when MFP was owned by UA. No "potential" involved.

    2. What's the source of your claim that Joy Health bought and is using the data from that breach? I can find nothing to substantiate that claim.

I replied to the email asking where they got my email address and that was their response. They said they weren’t involved in the hacking but have the data.

My “potential” was because I assumed it was a fresh data leak rather than using old data.

Here’s the emailed response I received:

MyFitnessPal actually had a big public leak a few years ago. They should have notified you of this. All the more reason to move away.

You can read about this here: https://www.bitdefender.com/en-us/blog/hotforsecurity/myfitnesspal-hacked-150-million-user-accounts-compromised

Note: we're not associated in any way with the hack.

By the way, if it's helpful and you want to know what other services have leaked your email, you can use this: https://haveibeenpwned.com/
