How to add Incline to Treadmill activity on a Google Pixel Watch 3

As soon as I hop on the treadmill, I open MyFitnessPal on my Google Watch 3 and select Treadmill. As expected, it tracks my treadmill session as it should; however, because I use an incline, the calories burned after the session are way lower than what is displayed on the treadmill (after entering my weight, etc, into the treadmill).
My question is: How do I add the incline to the treadmill exercise on my watch so the calories burned are at least closer to the amount on the treadmill?
I know I can manually enter the treadmill/walk session into the app from the display on the treadmill, but that's double dipping (because my steps are being tracked no matter what and being converted into calories burned). Is my only option to enter the exercise manually and just put in the calorie difference? Or should I turn off step tracking on my watch while on the treadmill and not use the app as designed? Both seem like a miss. Surely, I'm just missing out on where to add the incline when I start the treadmill exercise on my watch in the MyFitnessPal app.

I would try not using the MFP app on your Pixel Watch. Try using the native treadmill function on the watch. When you are finished and stopped, have it sync it over to MFP.0
