Living in a nursing home

3 years ago I was 330 lbs living in my parents home. I walked around but it was really slow,I was tired and stupidly started using a wheel chair and I became immobile.

I moved to an apartment my sister had for me and started using a walker, but I was using a couch that was too hard for me to get up from and I started having mobility problems again. A firefighter who had to come by too many times to get me up told me i needed to go to rehab or a nursing home and I ended up in this nursing home. I am hoping to be out of here in 6 months.

Anyways, they just serve junk. I got chicken fried steak and French fries tonight. So all I can do is eat half a plate.Thanks.

Tough stuff there, and difficult when you have limited food choices. Hope you regain mobility soon and can get going the way you want.

Hold onto your reasons why, and do what you can to keep in your cals ranges there, even if it means like peeling off skin and breading, it's so worth it!

@eavintx - most nursing homes have a dietician- you can request one and ask for food to match your dietary preferences.

Ask to speak to an administrator for assistance, especially if you are in a rehab situation and looking to lose weight.

Have you requested different food choices and spoke to them about your diet preferences?

    Wishing you the best.

Good suggestions here. Don't just accept that they serve you terrible food, either. Advocate for yourself! You can do this! Thinking of you and wishing you all the best.
