Bulking bro's?

Hey guys I'm Josh and I'm 25 155lbs and looking to find a few guys around that are about the same size and looking at putting on a few lbs of muscle over the next couple months. I'm a really clean bulker and my body responds well to eating a clean diet and I just feel way too uncomfortable getting fat while bulking so I'm going to be slowly adding the lbs rather then throwing the chub on my frame along with the muscle....I wanna look good all the time not a few months out of the year....alright hit me up if you want someone to help you along.

thanks man and ya I guess when I say I'm a clean bulker I mean I don't like throwing on lb's of fat in the process so I ya that usually comes down to eating just enough calories and not getting sloppy with food choices. What do you mean reverse dieting? I've never heard that before and when you ask if I've ran my numbers, you mean stats?

checking in for a bulk! unfortunately i'm well beyond my 20s (early 40s).
recently dropped around a stone in weight (14lbs) but lost quite a lot of muscle - so a reasonable bulk followed by another cut is my plan.
bulking on 2700 cals a day.
  • Started reverse diet this week. 50-100 cals/week until in my excess for bulky winter time.

I've been reverse dieting for a few weeks, probably in a surplus now, though I'm still a few weeks of 100 cal bumps away from being full speed bulking (looking for a 350 cal/day surplus).

Haha theres nothin wrong with that at all!
  • Hey Josh,

I am working on putting on a few pounds now as well. I'm 6'1", currently around 180 but would like to ad an additional 10-15 at least. I am working out 3x a week and increased my calorie intake. New to this whole workout and bulk stuff as I've been a "slender" guy my whole life (alright, skinny!) and am trying to develop discipline with working out. Any tips or suggestions would be great!

I'm getting ready to start my second bulk. I did a 15 pound bulk last year (165>180). This year I plan to go from 172>185 or so. Hoping for a very lean 170-175 next summer.

This thread went from good to awesome in no time!!!

About to finish up week #3 of the reverse diet, down .2 lb so far but it's gone as much as -2.4 lbs since day 1.
This up coming week should be great as pop tarts make it into the rotation.

I just switched from my cutting workday lunch (ham n cheese sandwhich, heavy on the ham), to my bulking workday lunch (2x PB&J's, heavy on the PB) today.

Weight is slowly starting to creep up. Looking forward to doing measurements this weekend.

I'm starting my first bulk in October. Teach me!

I am 5'1 and this is what I am doing:

At the start of my bulk early last month, my weight was 106 lbs. I ate 100 calories above TDEE. Overhauled my lifting routine to add barbells to dumbbells (I'd been lifting for exactly 18 months when I decided it was time to revamp everything).

At weigh-in on Sep 1, my weight was 109 lbs, so a gain of 0.75 lb a week. BF went up but so did my LBM. Very comfortable and happy with the rate of gain.

Currently eating 200 calories above TDEE and experiencing all kinds of DOMS.

Yeller, how many days do you lift? I'm aiming for a gain of 1/2 lb a week or two lbs a month. It looks like you are doing pretty good with your gains.

Hey, I'm 5'1" too  Currently eating 1750 and maintaining between 105-108. I do SL5x5 only 2x/week right now, thinking I'll start adding Jiu-Jitsu 1-2x/week by the time I start the bulk. I want to get up to about 115lbs? Not sure how much I should plan to add before a cut. Ultimately I think I'd like to be about 115 with 18%bf? Idk this is all so new to me.

PS- to OP sorry for slightly hijacking your post

Yeller, how many days do you lift? I'm aiming for a gain of 1/2 lb a week or two lbs a month. It looks like you are doing pretty good with your gains.

    Lenora, I lift 6 days a week:

    Mon: Back & BIceps
Tue: Legs (current PR for squats: 115#)
    Wed: Chest
    Thu: Shoulders
    Fri: Triceps
    Sat: Legs

I am a newb in deadlifts and squats (started only 4 weeks ago) because I was a big pile of chicken doo-doo for a long time: I didn't believe I could squat jack with a busted left knee. But I decided to try anyway and I am glad I did. Interestingly, my left knee has not caused me major difficulty and squatting with correct form helps A LOT.

Them squats must be doing something good because my butt has been getting pinched more frequently lately.

Looks great Yeller. I've only been lifting for a few months myself so I'm sticking with full body workouts with an emphasis on the big compound lifts (squats, dead lifts, and bench/overhead press). In a few more months I'll probably switch to a split routine but I'm still making consistent gains on my lifts so I don't see a reason to change yet. :)
