I’m so tired of always saying Day 1
I’m so tired of always hurting
I’m so tired of never reaching my goal
I’m so tired of being overweight
I’m so tired of not being able to do the things I want to do
What do I do to stop saying Day 1 once again?
What do I do to stop saying I hurt?
What do I do to finally say I reached my goal?
I start by saying Day 1 once again!!!!!

Have you heard of 1% better each day? Just do something that is 1% better than yesterday. For example, walk to the end of your street. Tomorrow, walk to the end of your street and around the corner 50 metres. And so on.
If it’s food, cut down the bad stuff bit by bit and replace with good stuff, bit by bit.
I think you are past day 1 already. You have got this. 1% better each day1 -
I would suggest you make small changes, gradually over time. Change only things that are sustainable - temporary diets lead to temporary weight loss.0

@christyhickman4296 I started my weight loss journey in January 2023. Started just by walking, started with a mile and added a little more each week. I also started tracking my calories on MFP, I lost 15 pounds the first few months, but then was getting bored. Just like you - this was my usual weight loss journey - I would get bored and then quit and gain it all back (and then some) just to repeat the process all over again. Then found the challenges page on MFP and joined the BLC challenge. Losing weight became fun with this challenge and I also met some wonderful people. It keeps me motivated and accountable. I started at 228 pounds - fast forward two years and I reached my goal weight and down 88 pounds. Yes, it took two years but I got there! Now the challenge is helping me conquer the maintenance phase of my journey. I can honestly say I would be where I am today without joining this group. The next round is starting right after the new year. Try it - it may be the best decision you'll ever make!

Sometimes saying 'day 1' (and the thought of then i will lose all my weight and keep it off like forever....
Sets up a start crash burn yo-yo vicious cycle that feels terrible emotionally....
A nice shift is to think... just now, this decision, is there a better choice, something that will help my body, help me right now? Do that... or a good compromise, and keep making small choices like that.
Hopefully you will find yourself up and going forward... 1 old favorite food choice does not stop future choices.... just consider making it choice by choice and not worry about all the choices ahead. You will get there when you get there...

You stop saying "all or nothing"
You stop saying "done by x day or failure"
You start saying "one day at a time"
You start saying "if I can't be perfect today, that's OK. I will accept "as good as I can do". I will not accept less."
You start seeing little improvements as victories.2 -
Honestly, you need to stop with the "day 1" thing. That implies that it's a countable, measurable, temporary period of time which you're going to do something outside your normal until you reach some goal, then you can stop.
If you want to make permanent changes to your body, you need to make permanent changes to your lifestyle. You're never going to be able to do what you were doing to get to the point you needed to lose weight again, unless you want to be right back there.
Getting out of the temporary mindset took me years, it has so many facets. It was fed by me doing special diets, cutting whole food groups, committing to programs that were not sustainable long term. Counting days.
Make sustainable, permanent changes that fit your lifestyle long term. For me, one of the many changes I have made is that one of my 3 meals a day is primarily vegetables, bit of protein, bit of fat, but overall low calorie. It leaves me more calories to spend on the other 2 meals, or some snacks, and going forward there will rarely be times where I can't make at least one of my meals low calorie in a day, so that reduces my intake overall. Not saying this will work for you, but it's an example.
Other thing I did? I don't have a 'goal'. Goal implies start, struggle, finish line. Nope, that's not going to work, for the reasons above, not to mention it implies some big celebration at the end. This isn't a marathon where you hit the finish line, take the accolades, and go back to 'regular life'. Permanent results require permanent change. You're not running a temporary race or taking a detour, you're changing direction on your life's trajectory.
My goal is to simply make good choices and to change the lifestyle that got me here in the first place. Yeah, I have an idea of where I'll stop actively trying to lose and will switch to maintaining, but it's not based on a number, a date, or a size, I just plan to go to where I feel good in myself. Then the change to maintenance will be a whole other journey because, again, I can't then just go back to how I was before, because that's how I ended up here again.
