Has anyone here done bariatric surgery?

I am getting bariatric surgery on March 20. I was hoping for any tips before I go and after surgery

Follow all pre-op and post food guidelines. Don't be tempted to rush ahead in the food guidelines. You may experience some pain following the surgery, if its gas, get upright and walk and walk some more.

You won't be able to eat a lot of volume at all in in the weeks following surgery, focus on protein intake where you can.

    Hope all goes well!

I just had Sleeve gastrectomy done on January 7th. As the poster before me stated, follow your surgeons guidelines. Make sure to stay hydrated. Most of my initial pain was from gas. Make sure to walk, use a heating pad and take Gas Ex. These all help me get rid of it quickly. It will take a while to progress through the various food stages so be patient, you'll get there. Remember to listen to your body while it's healing from surgery.
I'm hoping to graduate off the liquids next week and onto pureed food. Be happy in your decision to do some wonderful for yourself and your future journey. Good luck!

I had the TDS 10/3/24. I've lost a total of 75 since July 2024. (55 since surgery date) Follow all the guidelines your physician gives you, I used Roller Weightloss Clinic in Fayetteville, AR. They are amazing! I never once felt judged or uncomfortable. During the holidays I did indulge a little, so it has been a bit of a struggle getting back on track, but that is life! You're going to do great! Feel free to send a friend request and send me any questions. :)

I had gastric bypass just over two years ago. Like others have said. Be sure to follow the process exactly and don’t push ahead. I got down from 300 to 184. Now I’m back up to 215. So you have to be carful not to go back into bad habits like I have. I am going to get back on track and get back down to at least 190. You can do this! It’s way worth it!

I had a gastric sleeve back in June of last year and I went from a "morbidly obese" to a "normal" weight range and am keeping it off! Follow your surgeons instructions to a T and you can do it too! Never let up! Keep exercising like your life depends on it (because it does).

I had roux-n-y gastric bypass about 15 yrs ago. The weight came fast. I lost about 85 lbs. Without a support group and finding ridiculous ways I could “cheat” the “system” I gained half of it back within 3-4 years. I watched my weight pretty closely so I wouldn’t gain more of it. But it was a battle. Like the others have said, please follow all the instructions from your surgeons and other providers involved with your care. Don’t start compromising on any aspect. You can be successful like millions of others. I’m not trying to scare or discourage you. I just think it’s only fair for you to also hear from someone that DIDN’T follow instructions 🙁. What sucked about gaining it was I still have major problems with dumping syndrome if I eat something i ALREADY KNOW for a fact i can't tolerate! It puts me down, doubled over in cramping, pain and nausea for at least 2 hours but usually 4-5 hrs😖. Until after the diarrhea starts, by the third or fourth time its like nothing was ever wrong! Thats just how bad my food issues are. Amazing news however is this app! It has been my lifeline this past 7 months. Ive been able to lose 95% of what i gained back 13 yrs ago. Until now Ive never been able to lose more than 5-10 lbs just to regain that again within a few weeks. I am confident it will stay off this time😁!
Gastric bypass is a good TOOL but just like any other tool it doesn’t fix the problem if you don’t know how to use it. Good luck on your upcoming surgery and success 😃!
