I HAD A BAD IDEA. But it kind of sounds good?

Okay. I'm trying to think of new ways to eat quinoa and flaxseed that aren't disgusting, and that aren't the same ol' stir-fry. I'm trying to think simple stuff that I really don't have to prepare - for instance, usually when I eat quinoa I just cook it with frozen pre-packaged "stir fry vegetables" (Cos I'm lazy and stuff).
As a point of reference, I'm a 20-year-old woman-girl-thing. College and simplicity and I like to eat.
So here's idea No. 1:
Quinoa and Alfredo sauce
Literally. That's it. I'm not sure how it's going to come out, but it's two yummy things wrapped up in one?
Idea No. 2: Flaxseed and mashed banana
Step 1: Mash banana (pretend you're making banana bread)
Step 2: Stir in ground flaxseed
Step 3: ???
Step 4: Profit!
I'm going to try both of these today, but I'm not sure if they're going to come out edible. Gimme your thoughts!

No and I don't think you know what alfredo sauce it is either.0 -
haha! well, sure, good things are good but not always together. i like tuna and ice cream...
the flaxseed and banana thing might work, let us know how it goes! lol0 -
Haha the title of this thread reminds me of what I do whenever I have made up my mind to do something that is a bad idea, but I just need a cosigner to feel ok about it. I call up my gay husband (not my actual husband, but that's what I call my bff), and say "I need you to give me some really bad advice." Lol, he always comes through as long as it isn't something too harmful.0

I like quinoa, but quinoa and alfredo sauce sounds disgusting. I like quinoa with ratatouille, maybe try that.0

you don't have to force yourself to eat foods you don't like. there is nothing magical about either of those foods (despite what you may read in magazines and on certain websites). there are literally thousands of foods you can eat to meet all of your nutritional requirements. find foods you like. life is meant to be enjoyed.
for example, i used to force myself to eat oatmeal. but oatmeal is basically wallpaper paste. but i thought i was doing something good for me by choking that glue down. then one day i realized what i was doing was stupid. now i don't eat oatmeal at all. i eat other foods that i like.0 -
Thanks for all the suggestions guys! And I am definitely going to be saving that casserole recipe... Sounds like something good to portion out and freezeyou don't have to force yourself to eat foods you don't like. there is nothing magical about either of those foods (despite what you may read in magazines and on certain websites). there are literally thousands of foods you can eat to meet all of your nutritional requirements. find foods you like. life is meant to be enjoyed.

I really like quinoa! It's just a staple, like rice - you flavor it with other foods. I love oatmeal and quinoa, and am getting used to flaxseed. The problem is that I get into a rut of only cooking it one way; this is me trying to come up with new & (potentially) yummy ways of preparing it0 -

haha listen to the guy with the abs, he knows what he's talking about. I'd avoid those two things cause they sound awful. You could make a salad with it. cook it in vegetable stock and then add in whatever you like (tomato, olive and feta is pretty awesome). all you have to do is let it sit in the fridge. Or stir in some fruit and a bit of yogurt and eat it for breakfast. I've heard of making patties out of it but never tried it. Flax seed you can add into anything like oatmeal. Skip the alfredo sauce though cause you'll just make two good things very, very bad.0 -
I tried a tiny bit of alfredo with a bite of quinoa before dumping it in the bowl... Yeah, that was a bad idea xD Just mixed up the rest of the bowl with some oyster sauce and soy sauce; might add some orange sauce or general tso's before I eat it :>
Will update on how the banana is when I get around to it after dinner tonight! Thanks for the input guys0 -
I hate quinoa usually, but it makes a good stuffing type dish. Just use whatever oil or butter, whatever broth, some onions and celery, sage, and pepper. Mix it together and bake it. I think if you toast it on the stovetop first it would taste better too, but I haven't gone that extra step yet.
Check out blogs like OhSheGlows and PeasandThankYou, as I think each have recipes featuring both ingredients.0 -
If the quinoa is already cooked, you could probably add small amounts to soups and omelets. I add either hemp seed, chia seeds, or flax seed to all kinds of things, even oatmeal cookies and smoothies. My hubby has never noticed.0
