new to MFP, training for first 5k

Greetings,

I joined my fitness pal to help me track my diet and nutrition. I heard about the site from an app I use while running, and I am glad I checked it out! It looks like a great resource...

I started a novice running program July 29, with a goal to be able to run without stopping for an hour. I am also looking to do my first 5k in October. Running has always been a big challenge for me, even when I was younger and in better shape so this is a big step forward for me.

Diet is my other nemesis, and with some patience I can meet these goals too and get back to a healthy, normal weight.

The community here looks to be very active and supportive, I look forward to reading the forums often :)
