So far it's been a very blah kind of Monday. Nothing really going "wrong", but also nothing going "great". Just a moderate kind of day. For Monday, I'll take it. Well, I do have "hard hat hair" you know where the hard hat causes your hair get sweaty and mat to your face. I hate that.

Visited mom last night. Tim was able to get her TV set up to go straight to channels, so she didn't have to choose and input. We also finally hung the bird feeder. I know I'll get used to it, but right now I still cry about every time I leave.

Not much on the agenda tonight. Need to make pepperoni rolls. Will probably watch football. I think I'd rather watch it at home rather than out. I'm kind of needed to do laundry again. I don't know where all of the laundry comes from…

    JFT Sunday

So Sunday I had a pretty lazy day and did some baking in the afternoon since we had finally gotten some apples off our apple tree .I made apple crisp for us and also one for some friends.

JFT Monday morning we woke to 4 inches of snow. That was annoying because it was heavy and all our yard trees and shrubs had not dropped their leaves. I had to go out and knock the snow off so the branches didn't break.

My work day was busy as the one lady is out for the week ( no surprise there but me or my coworker didn't know she was out, AND to make matters worse, our manager didn't know that said coworker didn't let us know to arrange back up for her job duties...) The afternoon I had to take my horse in to the vet for a diagnosis on his leg injury. Good news. No tendon or ligament issues, which means I don't have to keep him confined. I can turn him back out in his pasture . HUGE RELIEF because he doesn't handle confinement well. The Vet thinks it might be a flare up of cellulitis. I am not totally sure because that usually triggers from a cut on the leg where bacteria gets in and there is no evidence of any cuts or abrasions. Its going to be a watch and wait. I may have to put him on a round of antibiotics but in the meantime, I have to keep him wrapped daily for a bit yet. Atleast he can be turned out. I was so relieved and we tore down the temporary stall in the barn last night.

JFT Tuesday- I actually am dealing with what feels like a return of my symptoms from being sick.. Head cold symptoms this time , along with chest congestion and coughing. I am not sure why I can't shake this thing.

Lots of meetings today and really nothing planned afterwork. I was going to start that group strength training class but since I am not feeling my best, I am holding off.

Yesterday was ok. Didn't bake, hubby wanted to go out for dinner. Today is a busy day at work. Plus I have to deliver a disciplinary warning for an employee. After work will be a visit to mom and maybe pool tournament. They are every Tuesday, and I have a good time. It's only $10 to enter.

Dog tried to save me some calories last night. Hubby prepped a Digorno pizza and had it on the stop while the oven heated up. Merlin came upstairs and grabbed it before I could intervene. Sunday he ate the wedding cake we brought home, well he ate some and licked the rest. Counter surfing has been a consistent problem.

After visiting mom yesterday, I was really down and decided I'd rather spend my evening with Tim rather than go play pool. We went to Music Bingo instead. I would have rather been home than out, but I would rather have been with him than be alone. Nothing really new with mom, just a rehashing of how I'm making her be there and how I don't visit enough. Truth is I visit regularly 3-4 times a week, but she doesn't remember. I know she is unhappy and that bothers me. I also know it is the only real option we have.

Tonight is supposed to be trivia, but I may skip it and clean or go play pool. Not sure. No matter what I do I plan to be home by 10:00 and in bed by 11:00.

@more_freggies76 - I am sorry your pup is not feeling well. Sending you healing thoughts . I just recently lost my heart dog due to cancer that seemingly appeared out of nowhere.

Unfortunately all my illness symptoms are back. I am so annoyed. Waiting to hear from my doctor to call something in , hopefully. She was out of office yesterday. I also have this eye sty thing that keeps flaring up and I can't help but think this virus and it are related somehow. It went away for a while and now its back along with these upper respiratory symptoms.

JFT- Today is my friday at work thankfully

Hot compresses on eye through the day

Walk on treadmill under desk for breaks

Figure out a chicken dish for dinner- something easy

I am hoping I will feel well enough for the weekend because we have to get a load of hay as well as a myriad of other fall clean up /winter prep things that still need done. I just need to energy to do it

I just didn't want to see people. Anyway, I'm just down today. I have work stuff, then I will go visit mom then go shoot pool.

I just totally scored the best Christmas gift for my husband who has been a Washington Commanders fan since WAAAAAY before they we Commanders. Back in the 80's & 90's The Cowboys/Redskins game was on almost every Thanksgiving day as they were fierce rivals. Anyway, a coworker mentioned to me that his nephew might be able to get me a good deal on a Commanders game. They play the Cowboys on Christmas day so I thought why not ask. We weren't going to open gifts with the girls on Christmas anyway because Sierra has to work Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. Not only did Brian get me a good deal on tickets, he got me FREE tickets! Tim's mom will be ticked off that we aren't there for Christmas Day, but I kind of don't care. I'm so excited to tell hubby!

Facebook memories can be humbling. This picture was taken 11 years ago. I was 41 and in the best shape of my life. I liked the wig and my smile, but I didn't like the picture because I thought it showed my belly. I retrospect, it was likely my posture and my uterus. lol. Maybe just maybe I was a little hard on myself. Striving for perfection was my enemy, and I couldn't maintain the intensity after 47 or so. In the last 5 years I've gained 80 pounds and I just can't get my head to let go of the disappointment in myself.

@pridesabtch -Nice job on snagging those tickets! He will be shocked. Are you going to wait until last minute to let him in on the secret? Cute pic. Isn't it funny how when we look back at photos we think, "damn I looked pretty good" but in the moment we were criticizing ourselves?

Had a full morning yesterday getting the load of hay for the winter into the barn and stacked. I run the tractor so don't have to do the heavy lifting. Having a tractor with a pallet fork is a game changer for our backs. We can get 9 bales at a time and I can just lift my hubby up to the top to the stack as he goes so he doesn't have to climb the stack with the bales in hand. We aren't in our 20's and 30's any longer and finding kids to come help is a joke.

Finally got some antibiotics (that's a long story but I just ended up calling my telemedicine company through work) and wah-lah I am starting to feel better. Imagine that. I will be shopping for a new primary care. My whole situation was handled poorly.

    JFT-

    get some excercise in

Go on a trail ride and enjoy a decent fall day

Make apple crisp from last apples from tree

    Laundry and maybe grocery shop

spent the day getting mom's house ready to list. Cleaning, moving furniture, collecting trash and taking pictures. Took about 4 hours. While I did the inside hubby worked on the outside. Trying to clean the awning and mowing the lawn. It’s a small place, and it needs a good feep cleaning (walls, baseboards, etc.), but I’ve done all I plan to do. Just listed it on FB Marketplace. Will also list on Zillow soon. Hopefully I can sell it without a realtor. Luck!

@pridesabtch - Will keep my fingers crossed for you that it sells without much more work or effort for you guys. I sold a home all on my own 10 years ago. I was told I'd never be able to do it repeatedly by rude real estate agents, so called friends and even some family. I charged ahead and proved them all wrong. I sold it on my open house for a full cash offer..

Rainy cool Sunday here after a beautiful fall day yesterday. Had tons to do yesterday and ofcourse didn't get to all of it but we made a dent atleast. Fall /winter preps for the property continue. The LQ horse trailer is atleast winterized and closed up for the winter. I wanted to get the horse section floor power washed out but didn't get time. Maybe I will get another niceish day and can still do it but those are getting less and less likely this time of year. We still need to get the stock tank covers and heaters placed. Firewood is stacked and covered which is also a big priority.

This time of year I always find overwhelming because I look at the list of things we plan to get done on the house/property when Spring arrives and then look at what we actually accomplished . We always gets several things done but the OCD part of me wants to see that list complete. Its unrealistic I know. And truth be known, even if we got the list completed, there would ALWAYS be more added. Its just who we are .. We are also two people who work full time + jobs and have a small farm to run.. there's only so many hours in the day. Hiring help would be amazing but not in the budget.. so we just do as much as we can, and keep plugging away.

We did get to take the horses on trail ride yesterday albeit short due to time commitments but it was nice to get out just the same

    JFT

    • Apple crisp ?
    • Treadmill with weighted vest
    • Make beef stew for dinner
    • Housecleaning
    • Rebandage horses leg
    • Sit down and look at weeks schedule ahead- lots of appts this week after work

I missed posting a few more days because just not at the computer this week. And lately, when I am on the computer, I have technical problems, either with updates from MS, a browser or antispyware. Ack! Thankfully, hubby is a big help with that because I just get frustrated. I had a nice overnight visit with the parents, even joined them out for lunch with some friends the second day. I've known one of them for years, but just met his second wife (I did know the first (late) wife), and met one other friend, a very spry woman just turned 95 who drove herself to the restaurant. I was the spring chicken of the table LOL. Also, hubby and I got our new eyeglasses, a week early, finally got the car cleaned (we tend to be lazy about that), and met with our insurance agent to sign up with a new Medicare Advantage plan. Watched the Brewers lose 4 games straight to the Dodgers. That was sad, and Dad will miss baseball tremendously once the World Series is over.

@more_freggies76 Sorry that your doggo is unwell. Wishing you all the best!

@HappyDonkey75 So glad you finally got meds that are helping! I can totally relate to the winter prep chores… well, not the small farm part (although I have farming in my family), but otherwise, there's the always more that can be done list.

@pridesabtch Best of luck with the sale of the house. Awesome score of the Christmas Day tickets!

JFT 10/19 Sunday ~ More than 1/2" rain overnight, but sunny & windy now. Fall temps have definitely arrived, leaves are quickly changing colors & dropping, and we've started on some of our fall/winter prep around the yard. Hubby and I placed fresh mousetraps in the garage this morning, since smart mice are getting the peanut butter but not triggering the traps. Eek! I hate mice. At least they've never gotten into the house, we've never seen/heard signs, and pretty sure Kitty would let us know.

    • Church 9:00 🙄 that was close, I set my alarm for the wrong time last night & barely had time to shower & go
    • Walk dog / OT exercises
    • Leftover pizza for lunch (hubby and I ate out after ins. meeting & brought some home) / make broccoli bisque for supper (haven't made this in a few years) / healthy snacks / limit sweets / 80 oz water / log all food / net calories zero
    • Vote in final 4 Coolest Thing contest / put away clean dishes / read / digital declutter / other?
    • Packers v Cardinals 3:25 / Maigret 8:00 / The Gold 9:00

WOTY 2025: Judicious ~ I just like the way the word sounds, and the meaning is right for me: having or showing reason and good judgement in making decisions. I can apply this word in so many ways!
