What does MFP say when you do the quiz? We don't know your age, height, weight, physical activity level etc, so it's impossible to say. Also, how was your logging? As in how accurately were you counting that 1700 calories?

If thats what an health care professional told you i would go with it. They can see more factors than the app does. Im also at 1700 calories a day with 1600-1800 being the range i was given. Remember slow loss is actually good for you. Im losing a little faster but im working out 2-3 times a day too.

Without knowing anything about you, except that you lost slowly on 1700 before, a guess would be that 1700 is a good place to start, unless there have been changes in your lifestyle since then. You can adjust if necessary as you go.

If 1700 caused weight loss before, and you're at roughly the same weight (or more) now as then, and your lifestyle/activity is similar, sure, do that again.

Slow loss can be a better idea than fast loss. Slow loss can help us experiment and find sustainable new routine habits to stay at a healthy weight long term. Slow loss creates less health risk. Slow loss can even get us to goal weight in less calendar time than some super-aggressive approach that causes deprivation-triggered over-eating, breaks in the action, or even giving up altogether.

    Best wishes!
