A what would you do Scenario....

What would you do if you were in this situation?

My husband meets with a group of his friends once or twice a month and they play Texas Hold'em (poker). This friend and my husband made a pact early on that whoever won would split the winnings with the other. My husband is a really lucky guy compared to this friend. He has won several times, and the friend has only won twice.
This friend thinks he is a great poker player, and that everyone else is just getting lucky with the worst hands possible. (Isn't that the point of poker? It's all about getting lucky.) Anyway, I don't EVER play because I think it is just dumb, but I am curious to know what you would say to this friend. Would you keep letting him have half your winnings, or would you tell him it was the end of the road?

** This is nothing serious. I was just wondering what others might do. My husband and I are NOT having problems over this issue, and we have already discussed this between ourselves.

If they made a pact right at the beginning then he should stick to it I guess....

I'm with you though, I don't play because it seems silly.

That's pretty much what we both agreed on. Thanks for replying. (-:

As a man, sticking to my word and being loyal to a friend is worth more than money in a poker game.

As long as it is not putting stress on the marriage I say split the winnings. I will bet the game is more of a bonding event than a mone making one anyway.

If you'd used any word other than pact I might have given a different response. Pact makes it all sound so serious, your husband has to keep to his word!

TH is luck at certain levels, its also math and

he has to keep his word. and poker is not about luck. its a game of skill. you can get lucky and win a hand or two but good players will have your money at the end of the night every time.

I dunno guys.... If you'd seen some of the cards these people play, and how they play, well.... I think it is stupid dumb luck....lol. How are you going to call an ALL IN pre-flop with a 5/2 off suit and win!?! Geez! Haha!

    ha!

maybe your hubs could give buddy lessons? it's kind of ridiculous. but yeah would uphold any pinky swear, or suggestion of same.

He is going to uphold his end of the pact. I personally don't care that he made this pact, but I thought he should keep his word. It's only poker winnings, not his weekly pay check. (-; The buddy needs to learn to adapt to how some of these people they play with play...lol (That was a mouthful!)
