Hello. My name is Adam. After 30 years of heavy drinking, I finally sobered up 05/14/2024. Mentally, I've been healing, but now I need some work physically. I came across this app/website. I'm excited to feel better. Thanks for letting me join the community.

Welcome @bogart71us, and congratulations on your new(ish) sobriety! My partner and many of my friends are sober/recovering, so I know it's a tough, constant journey you're on. Much respect.

Great news; by eliminating alcohol from your diet you've already taken a huge first step in improving your diet, purely on a carbs/calorie level. My not professional advice would be; if you can help it, don't replace the alcohol with soda, as that's another huge (but reasonably easy for most) way to cut unneeded calories from your day- though maybe you already know that!

In any case, you are very welcome here and hope to see you around more.

Thank you. I did exactly that. I replaced alcohol with pop (soda, I'm from the midwest, we call it pop, sorry) and junk food. Sobriety has been an up and down ride for the last 237 days. Through counseling I'm learning to be more open.

I do plan on staying on the app for assistance in getting into shape as well as staying on the community board for the sharing of support.

Congrats on your sobriety. Im in a similar situation. Went to rehab 3 times over the last couple of years for alcohol and pills, but mainly alcohol. Its been a long hard road to recovery, but Im finally clean and sober and relearning how to live life again without the use of substances. Unfortunately, sobriety came with allot of weight gain fast for me. Now im trying to get my health back on track and get back down to my goal weight slowly but surely. Its nice to know that there's people out there that have or are currently going through a path similar to mine. Im open to gaining insights, tips, motivation, and more through this community and getting to know others. Feel free to friend me or reach out and we can help each other!
