Hope everyone okay any tips for going forward using this app without using the premium version. I’m trying to loose a little weight.

I lost weight from class 1 obese to healthy weight, and maintained for some months, with the free version. Later, I got premium, since I'm a long-termer.
All the basics you need are in free MFP. Get a calorie goal, log your food, remodel your eating to reach the calorie goal (close, on average, not way under), figure out which foods to eat when in order to to stay mostly full and happy (happy enough to keep going). That's the basics.
In fact, when people here ask if they should buy premium, I usually suggest they try out the free version for few weeks first. Once they learn the basics - which are the same in both versions - they're in a better position to look at the list of premium features and decide whether they'd find those helpful.
Best wishes!
