Hello to all.

60+ here. It was quite the holiday season. Why does everything have to go to our mid section? Tips, info, and updates appreciated. Stay warm y'all during this deep freeze.

    Hello, and welcome back!

Maybe you'd enjoy the 60+ thread, here:

It's been going on a long time, but is still active, so the newer posts are at the end. Might be a good way to meet people in a similar demographic.

Tips, I dunno. My main suggestion is usually to pick an easy (sustainable) plan for manageably reducing calories and increasing movement (daily life or exercise) in order to gradually head for a goal weight and better fitness. Along the way, learn new routine habits that will result in staying at a healthy weight and reasonably healthy/fit long term. That's low-drama, low glamor, not instant gratification, quite uninteresting to talk about at parties . . . but it seems to work.

As background, I'm 69, female, lost weight at 59-60, have been maintaining a healthy weight and the same jeans size since. Health markers - blood test results, blood pressure, etc. - are all normal now, unlike when I was overweight/obese. I have some of the usual stuff, severe hypothyroidism (medicated), some mild physical issues (osteoarthritis, torn meniscus, osteoporosis, blah blah blah), of course am menopausal, but I don't think that changes much of anything about tactics.

For me, being lighter, fitter, stronger, healthier is a huge quality of life improvement, more than worth the effort investment that went into it.

    Wishing you success!
