Bulking question

So I have some medical stuff going on and I'm finding it hard to eat any kind of heavy food like steak and such. Any lighter foods that can be recomended for me? I'm aiming for a low fat bulk .5 lbs a week (new to this, is that a good start?)

Can’t comment on the increase per week - others far more experienced than me on that - but re light protein: do you like fish? White fish like cod, haddock, river cobbler are high in protein and easy to digest. Chicken is also excellent and might be more digestible. Greek or skyr yoghurts are high in protein (look for the genuine stuff, not the the “Greek-Style”), oily fish like salmon and sardines are excellent for heart health but might not be as easy to digest as white fish, and finally, look for whey / vegan protein powders with limited artificial sugars, as they can also cause gastric issues.

That's a surplus of 250. That's a good amount for an intermediate lifter. A novice lifter can go higher.

You mentioned medical issue. I'm absolutely not fishing here, but a couple things you should consider:

    1) Does this mean your current maintenance is higher than you think, while your body heals? Depending on your situation, it may well.

    2) Does it prevent you lifting frequently and doing progressive overload? In which case you shouldn't be bulking.

Re nutrition, good tips from Claire. Also here's a recent vid from top strongman Mitch Hooper you may find interesting, He talks about his diet in here, chapters are marked. He needs a lot of calories and protein, and it needs to be easy to digest. Check out his 'monster mash'.

Claire, yes I love seafood and fish. I'll definitly try adding more white fish and chicken in.
Retro. It's mostly healing and needing to try to eat more calories. I was in a...unhealthy situation and had less than 1300 calories a day for over 3 months. Moved home and trying to heal. Also am mostly starting with low intensity and such, pushups, situps, calisthenics ect. l also am only 148lbs so perfect starting spot (i think?)

Will definitly watch the video link and take notes!
