I’m a 78 insulin dependent diabetic since I was 38. My A1C is usually around 6.5 so I’m in good control. I need to lose some “belly fat” which is hard to do taking insulin. I could use some direction on how MFP could help me,

You can't choose where you will lose fat. All you can do is eat at an energy (calorie) deficit and hope your body eventually starts tapping belly fat to make up the energy deficit.
MFP will recommend a calorie goal based on your height, weght, age, gender, activity level, and desired rate of loss. Then you just log what you eat and try to stay at your calorie goal or a little below.2 -
Lynn is 100% correct. As you lose weight, you 1st lose were you have the least amount of fat. Hands, fingers, toes feet. Belly fat will be the last place you'll lose. It's just the way it goes.0
