    That was me, Ann.

I’m nothing special. If I can do this, you can do it. Just weigh and log honestly and stick to your (reasonable, not “fast fix”) calorie goal.

Add in some walking, and find something else you love doing. It gets easier and fun-ner as your weight diminishes.

It takes patience and diligence, but you, too, will be chasing them on your knees and riding the grandkids’ Hippity Hop sooner than you think.

We are here for you. Read the boards, learn useful healthy tips versus false diet lore, and above all, ask questions. The support you will get if you get involved here is outstanding.

    Welcome to MFP @cairnrubicon0d89 !

And, as for “grandma depression” look at it this way.

You have two cups sitting on the counter. You can choose to continue pouring your energy into the depression cup, or choose to start a fresh cup and direct your energy to filling that one.

Starting today, neither is half empty or half full. They just are.

    Hello, and welcome!

I'm also Ann, here. ;):) Like Springlering62 above, I've been here for a while, having also lost weight at grandma age (but not a grandma because no offspring, so I have to play with other people's grandchildred :) ).

She gave you good advice, which I endorse. If a hedonistic aging hippie flake like me, a person with a near-zero willpower budget, can do this, I think most anyone can. It takes some patient perseverance, but the quality of life improvement is worth the effort it takes to get there.

I'm cheering for you to succeed!
