Hi, how many calories do I need per day to lose about 35 pounds. Is intermittent fasting recommended after 40 years old ? I started exercising 5 days per week ( walking 3 miles or weight training) my current weight 167lb after 3 kids I gave been trying to loose weight for almost 4 years but not changes
Any advice is gratefully welcome

Why would after 40 change anything?0

Regardless of age, fat loss will be a product of a consistent weekly calorie deficit over time. You need to research where your calorie amount needs to be for your current situation. Start there and after a month review your progress or lack of it and adjust your weekly calorie amount at that time if necessary.1

Just use the goal setup on myfitnesspal and it will give you a calorie goal.
Two things to be aware of:
- MFP intends you to choose an activity level not including exercise, and then add exercise into your diary separately.
- faster is not better - in your case I would recommend choosing a weight-loss rate of 1 or 1.5lbs per week

intermittent fasting is not a key to losing weight. How much you eat in a day is more important than when. Intermittent fasting is a process/tool that helps some people control their caloric intake. But as long as you have a caloric deficiency, the time of day you eat doesn't really matter for weight loss. It only affects how you feel during the day.4

If you've been maintaining your current weight, track your input calories here and that's your current TDEE. That's more accurate than any online calculator. Then consume about 500 less per day. Keep protein high. If IF helps you with the process, then do that. Wrt weight loss it's just a diet adherence tool.0 -
What is a TDEE? Newbie here 🙂0

Total daily energy expenditure. The total amount of calories your body burns in a day.0
