I am currently training for a 5k by using the C25K app and I have to share this little story.
The last time I ran a full mile was 5 years ago during my first year of high school, and I about collapsed afterwards. I was never in very good shape, just not very athletic/competitive. By no means am I a runner!!!
But yesterday was the Week 5 Day 3: 20 minute run with no stopping.
And I did it! :]
Slowly....with a 13 minute mile...but I was indeed jogging the entire time!
This morning, I felt so good I went for a short run around my block.
Got in 1.3 miles in 14 minutes!
Not saying that the Couch to 5k program is for everyone, but I will say that it seems to be working VERY well for me! I NEVER thought I would run a full mile without stopping let alone running MORE than a mile with ease. If you had told me two years ago that I would WANT to go for a run, I would have laughed! And now it's something I look forward to! :]
If you are thinking about trying to start running, DO IT.
Just start.
And if it doesn't work the first few times, try a new approach.
KEEP TRYING. You can do it!
