I have lost considerable amounts of weight through out my adult life. But gained it all back. Dieting I can do, but sustainable maintenance is what I find hard. Is anyone the same. I’m going to try it different this time. Just health eating and not taking too much notice of calories, but will log them. Starting a fitness program with swimming to start with as my core is weak. Here goes. I’m giving myself 1 month progress reports.

While not 12 months a year, I spend a considerable amt of my maintenance still weighing and measuring my food. Maybe 70 percent of the year, with breaks around holidays especially.0

Eating healthy is a new concept, where in the 60's and 70's, it really didn't exist very much for the vast majority of people because the food supply was mostly considered "healthy" by todays standards with about 15% of the population considered overweight or obese and now it's pushing 75%. Who knows maybe you can emulate that, and also the fact most people that were in that demographic and were not overweight, also didn't count calories very much or at all. I wish you good luck.2

Honestly the more information you have, the better your chance at success. If you are going to eat healthy you should weigh and track your calories so that you KNOW you are not only eating healthy but also in the correct proportions. You gained your weight back because you only did half the job. I'm not being critical because I did the same thing. This time I am eating healthier and i intend on keep tracking my calorie intake for the rest of my life.
Do I do it every day? Not the days where I go out to eat with family. Do I log every single thing? No but I am currently eating under goal so I have a few calories that I can play with and still not sweat it. Right now I have 70+ pounds to lose so I will likely have to tighten up my tracking the closer I get to goal but if i am going to put the effort in. I might as well go the entire way.
Best of luck!1
