If you want to calorie count using this app, put your details into your profile here, get a calorie goal for sensibly moderate weight loss (not super aggressive fast), log your food, and stick close to that goal for at least one full menstrual cycle. At that point, compare your requested loss rate to actual average weekly loss, and adjust calorie goal if necessary based on real world results.

At 72 kg, a sensibly moderate loss rate would be maybe half a kilo per week.

I'm assuming you're no longer nursing the baby. If you are nursing, one option would be to set your calorie goal here to maintain weight, then let the nursing - which requires extra calories - give you a small weight loss rate that for many women wouldn't risk milk supply.

I agree with Ann. My daughter will be 1 in the end of March. If you are still breast feeding, set this app to maintenance and see what happens after a couple weeks. If you want to lose a bit faster, I would suggest you very slowly lower you daily calories (like 100 calories a day at a time) until you are losing at a pace you are comfortable and your supply adjusts. If you aren't breast feeding, then you can use this app to set your calorie goal to lose at whatever pace you are aiming for and then start eating those alloted calories each day. Be sure to drink plenty of water because water retention will make your weight go up and down more drastically if you are hydrated and then dehydrated and so on. Stay hydrated and you'll see a more accurate trend. Try this for a couple weeks at least and adjust your calories up or down dependent on how much you are losing. The first week you might lose a good bit if you are suddenly hydrated and you weren't before. That is because you are flushing off water weight. So don't take the first week as your expected weight loss from then on out. Give it a few weeks to see a true trend. The key, though, is accurate tracking and consistency. Also, remember there are calories in many drinks. Things like cream and sugar in your coffee or tea, sodas, juices, milk.... I would suggest you stay away from drinking your calories or this journey will be a lot harder to maintain. Leave the calories for your food only and you will feel fuller much longer. I do hope you have much success!
