Realistic Weight Loss goal?

Hi guys, I'm currently recovering from an eating disorder where I've been binge eating a lot. I'm the heaviest I've ever been, at 181.6 right now. I used to be 163 a couple months ago, so I gained a whole lot. Right now I've joined a program through my healthcare that gives me feedback on diet, exercise, and weekly weigh-ins. I'm hoping it'll help me in my weight loss journey.

For anyone who's done it before--how long did it take you to go from 180 to 130? I have about a 50 pound goal. I'm a 30F, eating 1300 cal a day, exercising for 1 hour a day, and I don't have any other health conditions thankfully.

More important than your weight is your mental health. I hope you have access to great support and are willing to take it. Realistically, the sky’s the limit when you are well grounded.

As for weight loss, I shoot for a pound a week.

    Best of luck!

Understand that once you hit around 150 you may only lose a half a pound a week.

With a history of ED, I strongly urge you to be speaking to your team through your program and aiming for slow, sustainable losses without worrying too much about an end date.

I've gone from 192 to 150 before. I am not going to post how long it took because you have an eating disorder. You seem to be set at a 1lbs a week goal? So that would be a year for you, probably a little longer because you will have a lower calorie deficit toward the end. I think that if you plan what you eat, you can eat well enough that you don't feel deprived but you will have to be careful and plan your meals well. Don't set yourself up to fail by the stress of a 'done by date'. You will weigh something for the rest of your life so set up a healthy way of living to live at the weight you want to be.

Food restriction with an ED history AND a super recent history of binging? When restriction by itself is known to sometimes induce binging absent even a known propensity to do so?

Is there an outside professional person who knows the whole story who is willing to accept this as a good plan? If not, I would run it by one.

Usually one stops the bleeding first and only after the bleeding has stopped AND they've taken a deep breath, only then do they look around to try and clean up a bit.

If you've gone up 10% of your body weight in a couple of months... the bleeding needs more than a few days to be considered under control.

Realistically, give yourself a year. I went from 205 to 140 in one year walking 7 miles per day and staying on a low carb diet. Make sure you get plenty of healthy protein, if will stop the cravings.

I've gone from 160 to 133 in 6 months by walking 10K steps every day and not going over my daily calorie goal (1200) through myfitnesspal. That's when I first discovered MFP and it was an amazing new tool for me. You gotta keep moving your body. Every time I start having cravings I walk my dog or do other things to keep myself busy.
