Knee Pain

About 2 months ago I started to experience pain in my knee. It started abruptly one day about 5 minutes into my run. I noticed that it got better as I ran - I am assuming as my muscles warmed up and about 15 minutes in the pain was almost gone. After my workout my knee would get increasingly sore through out the day. The soreness gets better and I feel no pain on my day off but the pain comes back consistently every time I run or do any workout involving putting pressure on my knee (ex. lunges).
I keep expecting it to get better but its not - it is also not getting worse. It is nothing debilitating just annoying.
Today I went and got a mild knee compression bandage from CVS. I had the best workout I have had in weeks. I felt no pain in my knee! So my question - will this help to resolve the problem? Should I wear it all the time (for example when going to the mall and walking) or just when working out? Is there anything else that I should be doing?

I recommend having a doctor look at it to give a proper diagnosis. Since the pain isn't sharp, it doesn't sounds like anything serious that would require more than icing/stretching and the aforementioned compress, but it's hard to diagnose over the internet.
I was having knee pain that started abruptly after a a run that lasted for weeks. It hurt all the time but wasn't aggravated during my runs (actually felt a bit better) and I was afraid I might have torn something. Turns out I have patellar tendinitis (tendon right below the knee cap) and just need to stretch and ice it, and take NSAIDs (e.g. ibuprofen) if it bothers me too much. The doctor cleared me to keep running.
ETA: Using the appropriate shoes and good form?0 -
I would also recommend seeing a doctor - that way they are able to tell you exactly what is wrong, and what exercises may or may not make the problem worse.
For example, I have knee pain all of the time - because my right leg is bowed too much. However, in order to have less pain i'm recommended to work out, and do strengthening exercises with the knee! Running can be hard though, if I have not done it in a while.0
