Changing goals

Hello. I am fairly new to My Fitness Pal and tracking macros. I used the “default” based on my weigh and weight loss goals. I would now like to decrease my calories. When I set my own goal with my daily calories and set my protein fat and carbs at 40-30-30, the numbers do not change in my daily dairy. So it continues to show 1200 calories daily, even though I changed that number. Thoughts on what I am doing wrong?

1200 calories is the lowest number MFP will give any woman. Losing weight fast is never a good idea as your body needs nutrients to function. If you're a man the lowest is 1500 you should be eating. Note: both numbers are only really meant for very petite, elder people.

Out of curiosity what are your stats? gender, age, height, weight, activity level not including exercise. It's hard to tell where your numbers should be for a safe weight loss progress. As yirara said, mfp won't allow you to go below 1200 but also it won't allow you to choose more than 2lbs a week to lose. Unless you are really short. the 1200 a day should be a solid line.
