Too many calories one day, not enough the next...

Doesn't it balance out over the week or does it really matter that you eat the exact amount of calories every day? It seems like I can't get right at my target. I'm always too low or too high. Any suggestions?

It does balance...the body doesn't run on a 24 hour clock (biorhythms change throughout the day, but bodily maintenance is continuous). Some people purposely manipulate their calories in that way to promote fat loss for a short time, and muscle growth for a short time. Depending on your deficit/excess over the span of many days you'll gain or lose weight. If you want to lose weight, just make sure that you're averaging in a deficit.
