Please can someone explain the calorie adjustment? I’ve read the article but I’m still confused by it.

I woke up today and already it’s -182

Yesterday I went on a 6k run and did over 11k steps and the calorie adjustment was -514

What is your activity level set at in MFP? If you chose a higher activity level setting and you are actually getting most of your activity within exercise sessions, it could be normal behavior to have a Garmin Connect Calorie adjustment.

Another thing you can check, to make sure the sync is working correctly:

    • check your TDEE for a completed day in Garmin Connect Screenshot_20250312_095408_Connect.jpg
    • compare that number with the number MFP received: tap on that line with the garmin Connect Calorie Adjustment and click through to a screen showing you a screen 'how we calculate your Calorie Adjustment' with the number received from Garmin for a full day Screenshot_20250312_095312_MyFitnessPal.jpg Screenshot_20250312_095334_MyFitnessPal.jpg

Thanks, my settings must be super wrong. Every day the calorie adjustment is taking hundreds of calories off me. Today I’ve had a negative of 450 so far.
I’m not an inactive person, I run 3x a week for around an hour training for an half marathon and do at least 10,000 steps per day.

Running isn't part of your activity level as MFP intends people to choose their activity level. And those 10k+ steps you're taking are for a considerable part coming from your runs?

But as I said, comparing numbers between Garmin and MFP for your TDEE might be interesting, to check if the sync is working correctly. It wouldn't be the first time that MFP is buggy 🙂

I’ll double check that everything is syncing correctly, thanks!
The 10k steps a day is standard, on run days I’m usually around 18k steps per day.
If I drop the activity level down from active to lightly active it sets my calories to 1200 which is just not enough…

What weight loss rate have you chosen? Because I would suggest keeping the activity level at Lightly Active and choosing a slower weight-loss rate, to avoid the 1200 goal.

0.5kg a week but I’m not too fussed about that, I just wondered why I was getting a negative adjustment of -500 which seemed a lot
