  • to have MFP record the calories burned, you need to log your strength training under cardio - strength training and put in the length of time you were working out. hope this helps:)

I have done weight lifting for many years. It does burn calories and mainly adds muscle. The cardio work outs burn fat. Added muscle leads to a faster metabolism, and toning which is helpful with weight loss. I am looking for other people to add as friends for support. my email is deborah@kennethberger.com if you wish to add me as a friend. I don't have a facebook account.

  • Nope it don't burn no calories. You better get running on that treadmill!! Because you know if you lift weights you'll bulk up like a bodybuilder. You wouldnt want that!

It does burn calories, but to actually gain muscle mass, you need to be eating at least maintenance calories, not at a deficit. Strength training while eating at a deficit will help you preserve the lean mass you already have, while burning the fat away.

Yes. It does burn calories, but you enter calorie burn under cardio tab. I use a category that I created, called Combo, so I enter the total cals burned during weight lifting and cardio.
