So my current core workout is alright for me, but I want some new ideas to push myself a bit more... I am finding them easier considering it's 45 seconds each ab exercise with a 20 second rest for 2 reps.

Day one is : weighed crunches, Russian Twists, leg flutters and walking plank.

Day 2 is: Leg cycles, In & Out and Hollow hold.

Any Tips?

Not familiar with everything, but the ones I do know are all about the abs moving and bending. But that's only half the job of the core; the other half is RESISTING movement.

Each day at the end of my weights workout, I do a pair of abs exercises; one for the muscle to cause movement, the other for that same muscle to resist movement. To whit:

    • Hanging knee raises 2x10 (2 sets of 10) // Low back extensions 2x10 // Plank 2x90s (2 sets of 90 seconds)
    • Cable woodchopper 2x10/side // Palloff Press 2x15s/side
    • Cable/DB side crunch 2x10/side // Side plank 2x30s/side

Some ways to increase the intensity of core exercises may include:

    • Increase weight used
    • Do more sets
    • Increase time used for static holds
    • For moving exercises (raises, crunches, woodchopper) slow down movement to 3, 5, even 10 seconds up and down

Thank you, that's really helpful. I might look into those workouts

I find what I'm currently doing isn't making my core sore... I know soreness isn't everything but still I actually want to feel some of a burning sensation when doing them and it doesn't actually happen until set 2. I'd want to feel it a bit sooner than that and then pish myself on the other sets

Yoga with Adriene YouTube channel should be on your 'watch' list. She's got all sorts of 'core' themed yoga moves which make your abs scream for mercy (in a good way!)
