05/12 --194.6✅ (Trend Weight – 195.0)
05/19 – 195.4 ❌ (Trend Weight – 195.2) It’s been a HORRID week. I’ve been Outside of my eating plan about every single day. My cravings have been uncontrollable and I even had a binge fest one night. The more I give in, the stronger the urges get. It’s a battle that can’t be won. I Absolutely must abstain from “just one bite” and “little cheats”. It does me not service Whatsoever. I’ve got to get strong and stay there! I can do better. Yesterday I tried a “shortcut” by practically starving myself. That only works for a few hours and then a binge ensues. It’s not the answer. Today I will try to just eat whole, clean, proper foods within my plan. There truly are no “shortcuts”. It’s a lifestyle, not really a diet, right? I’m about ½ lb less right now than the start of the month so that’s helpful to my resolve and spirit. I think I’ll take that ball and run with it! Holiday weekend coming up before next weigh-in. I may have a bad day but there is ABSOLUTELY NO REASON that the other 6 days can’t be filled with Care and Excellence!
🌺🌺🌺🌺 05/26 – 193.8 ✅ (Trend Weight – 194.5) I’ve been getting in more movements working on project around the house. Also I am trying to cook more instead of leaning on so much processed foods because of being busy. I’m not 100% there yet on the processed foods, but I am trying to improve for sure. Glad to see a drop on the scale as I work my way back down. I would love to be in a new decade soon. I’ve been just a few pounds off for months and it’s truly getting old. Time for Change!

Hello I'm Darlene, retired, 64-year-old. Married (Greg), one adult daughter (Allyson), and one goldendoodle (Monty). I started my journey in January 2023, and over the last two year have lost 90 pounds. I got to my goal weight in the last quarter of 2024, and now tackling the maintenance phase. There aren't too many maintenance threads on MFP, so hopped on this thread in January. I'm working on a buffer to make it so I never hit overweight again, but will be happy just to stay in the ideal BMI range the rest of my life. I weigh/check in on Wednesday and the end of the month.
My Weekly Goals
- 🥅 Stay under Ideal Weight (140)
- 🎯 Work on buffer - (137) whenever I get there is fine.
- 👣 115K Steps Weekly
- 🥗 Under Weekly TDEE
- 🚶♀️50 Miles walking
- 🫀 3 Cardio (non-walk) weekly
- 🏋️♀️ 3 Strength Weekly
- 🥊3 Virtual Reality Type Boxing
- 🧘♀️1 Stretch type weekly

Weight: 138.1
I am up a pound from last week, but still 1.9 below my goal weight. It is still hard for me to call it a successful week when I gain even though I am under my goal. I have been searching MFP for a group on maintenance to help me through this phase of my journey - haven't found one yet. There aren't even a lot of books on maintenance - I just found one called You've Lost Weight, Now What by Sophie Lamarche - ordered for my next Nonfiction.
Nutrition:
Although I was under my weekly TDEE, I had three of the seven day over. A couple days of sodium levels WAY over my goal. I got a lot of healthy Fruits and Veggies this week, and met my fiber goal every day. I met my personal goal this week of not eating after 8PM.
Fitness:
Continues to be my strong point, met all my goals. I have upped my intentional fitness and steps goals this week for the "Challenge Yourself" square on the bingo card on my Biggest Loser Challenge. I made it to mile marker 1,200 on my quest for 2,025. We got out on the kayaks yesterday and it was lovely!
Other:
Working my way through cleaning the house. Didn't get rid of much this week, but all the rooms in the house are thoroughly cleaned - including the windows! This week's zone is the decks, patio, screened porch - which actually was much easier! Next week - Garage and Basement! Then I start all over again. I made it to day 57 of my Soft 75 challenge without any pass days. As I mentioned last week, I think I made add an additional nine days of no alcohol (I don't miss it), to make it more a "hard" than a soft challenge. I finished Goblet of Fire, still working on Body Clutter (don't recommend) and the Way of Kings.

Hi. I'm Jennifer. 41. I started again December 20th at 308lbs. My highest weight. My first goal is 200lbs. Ultimate goal is 155lbs.
Struggling the last few weeks. Weight keeps fluctuating and I can't seem to reach the 270s. Very frustrating.
May was a hard month Just because I stayed the same most of it until a few days ago. The plateaus mess with my head so much. But I m 34lbs down since December so that's great.

@TNgirl39 My experience with weight plateaus is that those are the times I "shrink" in other ways. If you weigh yourself regularly and take your measurements every now and then, you might find that you lose weight for a while and then inches for a while, and so on. That's how it has been happening for me. Hang in there! Your body is just busy doing some "behind the scenes redecorating," but that doesn't mean the remodeling work has stopped.

🌷May 31: 139.5 - Yikes 1.4 pounds in three days!Monthly Reflection
It's the last day of May - Reflection Time!
I have been struggling with feeling successful about maintaining. I know this isn’t logical or reasonable – but I still a struggle. I know that I should feel proud of myself for being under my goal weight, whether it is 2 pounds or 2 tenths of a pound – but when the scale increases, I still feel like I failed. This month, up a tenth of a pound and instead of saying "good for you, you're still in the ideal weight range" – I’m thinking "Oh No!" I have been searching for a group that focuses on maintaining to help me through these feelings but haven’t really found one yet. There is one in the Biggest Loser Challenge that I am in – but I struggle with the fact that I would have to switch teams and wonder if it would even be beneficial.
On the Nutrition front – I need to get back to weighing everything. While I was losing - the scale was my bible. I have been a little lax with that and eyeballing portions sizes. I still record everything - but is it accurate? I also gave up my eight-hour eating window – I will try to bring that back this month. I've had quite a few late-night snack attacks. I tried saying "no eating after 8PM", worked for a couple days but then when I had a bad sleep night and it came back! I would make up for it by eating less the next day - something I need to work on for sure.
The exercise continues to be my strong front. I met all my exercise goals. I finished the Goblet of Fire Conqueror Challenge – working on the Order of the Phoenix medal. I hit 265 miles in May towards my 2,025 goal - my highest month of 2025. Year to date I sit at 1,264 miles, another 760 miles to go on my 2,025 goal. According to my tracker, if I continue at this pace I should reach it by the end of August. This will be a new record for me. I’m still loving VR Boxing/Combat and used it almost every day this month (I think I missed one day).
I made it to day 60 on my soft 75 challenge without any pass days! I am thinking of adding another nine days to the challenge without any alcohol. I haven’t had any since day nine, deciding I would rather eat my calories than drink them. Greg made his own plan and wants to do another 75 days! He has read three books so far - quite an accomplishment as he hasn’t read a full book since college – he’s also lost 15 pounds. I love that he is on this adventure with me. It really has been a fun one. I am creating a PowerPoint of the day by day outside walks and pictures. A great record of what we achieved at the end.
I read Sink Reflections by the Fly Lady and have incorporated the ideas into my life. You break your home into Zones, and clean one zone a week. I also added some chores that I do every day/week (like make my bed, send out the robot vacuums, laundry, swish and wipe toilets, mop floor, etc). I love to check the boxes. I just finished Zone Four of my cleaning schedule. One more zone to go and then I start over again. ALL my windows in my house have been washed!
I finished reading Goblet of Fire with My Hogwarts challenge (always a good one) and started Body Clutter – one more chapter to go; I did not enjoy it. I am continuing The Way of Kings – good so far.
My Goals for June:
- 🥗 Get better with the nutrition side of things – get back to a pound or two under goal.
- ⚖️ Weigh and Measure everything – stay under weekly TDEE
- ⏱️Eight Hour Eating Window
- 🚶➡️120,000 Steps per Week
- 🫀 🏋️♀️🧘♀️🚲 🥊 🚣 900 Minutes of intentional exercise, 3 cardio, 3 strength, 1 stretch, and VR for fun
- 🌳One 45 minute outside workout daily – regardless of the weather

So in may my average daily step count was 16 318 steps. Last year when I was working in a kitchen instead of in an office it was 20 000.
I always believed I would get skinny when I moved away from the kitchen and all the food. But turns out the office I work in has nuts out for those peckish moments.
With my IBS cashew are supposed to be bad. But they do actually seem to be helpful for me. But off course there are like a gazillion calories in them. Had a 4 day weekend with my kids. So I am still going up up up.
But the dog had a win this week when someone came to the door and she actually obeyed my stay command instead of jumping up and licking them in the face. Maybe she will learn to behave after all

Thanks for the May reflections. I especially enjoy them now that you are in Maintenance. Your continued efforts in exercise and walking are enlightening. Your desire to continue to measure your food and stick to an 8 hour window says a LOT about your intent to never go back!
Thanks for showing us what maintenance looks like and also how it feels, both good and bad.

On the good front, the maintenance team for the Biggest Loser is allowing me to be an honorary member of their team - so have the best of both worlds - keeping my Tortoise team (special bonds there), and at the same time getting the help I need from those who are on the same place in their journey.
“Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you." Matthew 7:7. 😁
Made it to day 64 of my soft 75 challenge. I think I mentioned that I hadn't had any alcohol since day nine. I am going to add another nine days to the end to make it more like the "hard" challenge!
Here are some highlights from the week:
The Meadows
My Biggest Loser Team is the Determined Desert Tortoises (Slow and Steady), so this was fitting to see - I know technically a turtle but . . . . She had just finished laying her eggs.
A new trail for us and Monty's new haircut!

It was an excellent movie and the Golden Corral all-you-can-eat buffet afterward was a bit overboard. I’m working it back down now with my low this past week being 190.4 . I’m aching for those 180’s and plan on having an excellent week this week. I need to really focus on water, incorporating more actual exercise (not just movement) and keeping my snacks in line. That’s my goals for this week. Back to some good habits that should pay off.

I woke up the next morning and realized I hadn't read the day before. It's a good thing I built in some wiggle room to my plan. But that being said, it makes the idea of adding an additional nine days without alcohol (the last time I had any) to make it more a Hard-75 type challenge a moot point. I am not going to do it another 68 days! So onward I go - four days left! Now I need to figure out something new to keep me going!
