hi, I’ve used myfitness pal a few years back but now have started using it again and find that all my data from then has disappeared. Thank you.

That just might be a trick question. 😉

I'll start by admitting I don't know the answer for sure.

What I've observed myself: With a free account, a limited duration of data is visible. I think it might be two years, but I can't guarantee that's the right number.

I started out with free MFP, later got premium MFP. When I got premium, if I remember correctly, some of my older data reappeared again. Now - still on premium - I can see my food diary information back to day 1, almost 10 years ago.

Based on that experience/memory - noting that memory is fuzzy - I think the answer may be that MFP keeps all the data, but only shows a limited timespan of it when you have a free account.

My first account is no longer associated with myfitnesspal. I might have not used that account for over 10 years. My 2nd account is still active. I just logged into that and I stopped using it in November of 2023. You would probably get a better answer asking tech support.

So I've always had free. On desktop, my data only goes back 12 months. On app, my food data goes back 12 months, but my weight data goes back as long as I have had my account, so maybe 12 years.

Looks like if I'm trying to print my diary, it'll only go back 12 months. But I can see the data, presumably, back to the beginning. (I just went back to 2017 in the food diary and could see all my entries)

hi, thanks everyone for your answers. I did find my data but not the food data and the meals I downloaded. The meals took me a while to record and I missed not finding them but I wasn’t surprised considering it’s a free account.

I've been here for 14 years. While the site has changed, my data has stayed. At least with all my threads anyway. I haven't checked to see how far back my diary goes.

I've been a member since 2013, always on the free plan. Several years back they warned people on the free plan they would lose older logging data (I think it was supposed to be anything older than a year or two, but you could export it if you wanted before it disappeared. I didn't bother, because the value of the old logging data didn't seem worth the effort to me).

Right now, I have access to logging data going back to late November 2019. I'm guessing that's everything that wasn't wiped out in the previous purge-- i.e., that they haven't been continually erasing or putting behind the pay wall any data older than the trailing 12 or 24 months.
