I'm not sure about vegetable content, but I know they're delicious and thus worth eating.

I believe they utilize lard for frying.

    McMicronutrients?

Also yes, almost definitely at least partially sort of a vegetable.

If that is true, that would explain why they taste so good.

I am assuming you're being sarcastic but I'll indulge :)

White potatoes are more of a simple starch than what, I personally, consider a vegetable. I will sometimes give a pass to sweet potato fries because they have much more in the way of vitamins and nutrients. But, when you douse something in that much oil, you may be taking in nutrients but it does tend to negate the positive side-effects.

I don't consider potatoes to be a vegetable. They're a starchy carb in the same category as bread, rice and pasta.

McDonald's supposedly doesn't cook their fries in beef fat any more, but they do add "beef extract" for flavor.

so carrots and beets aren't vegetables either?

    *facepalm*

I wouldn't recommend eating those. Have you seen the YouTube videos on the duration of a McDonald's french fry in room temperature? Makes regret growing up with those things.

How does it negate the positive?

When I was 4 I used to believe the salt and pepper cancelled each other out. I ended up with a bowl of VERY salty and peppery tomato soup.

I wouldn't consider them having much more. Vitamin A is about the only thing they have far more of.

    White potato - 3g fiber, 3 gram protein, 14 IU vit A, 17.4 mg Vit C, .3 mg B6, 750 mg potassium, 37 mg magnesium, 1 mg iron. 130 cal, 29 g carbs, 2 g sugar.

    Sweet potato - 4 g fiber, 2 g protein, 22,000 IU Vit A, 22 Vit C, .3mg B6, 542 mg potassium, 43 mg calcium, 31 mg magnesium, .57 mg manganese. 90 cal, 24 g carbs, 7 g sugar.

Potatoes are a vegetable. When you deep fry french fries it is still a vegetable but not necessarily as healthy for you to eat. But Yes they are good!!! It's just like eating a candy or carmel apple (yum) It's fruit but you can't count it as your fruit intake because of what it's covered in.

Lol, I think French fries are about the most nutrient dense thing I ate all day.. Well, maybe in close contest with 1000 cals or so of chocolate covered cashews.
