Weighing scale dilemma

4 weeks complete since I have started my journey. I weighed myself at the doctors in week 1 and havent weighed myself after that. I feel like having my own scale will keep me in check every week but I also have been in a situation in the past where I work hard for a few weeks and then see no result on the scale and then stuff myself with food out of anger or whatever. But I also feel that having a scale at home will help me to do better every week. What do you all suggest? Also what about measuring tapes?

I don't think there is a right answer. Personally I like weighing everyday whether I show a loss or a gain. It keeps me engaged in the process. But I know some people would find what I do discouraging for themselves. So do what you think would help you. My only suggestion is to weigh on the same scale wearing the same thing (or nothing!) at the same time of day.0

I personally could not handle having no scale.
I need numbers, right there in front of me to feel like I'm making any sort of difference. For a while I was getting super stressed over very minor (like two tenths of a pound) gains, but then one day I weighed myself often (like every half hour) and it sort of put it all into perspective. I woke up, weighed myself, went to the bathroom, weighed myself and was less, did an intense and sweaty workout and was way less, showered, weighed way more (especially with my hair wet), drank a huuuuge bottle of water, weighed even more, on and on throughout the day with the number sometimes being three or four pounds more than the very first weigh in of the day. Woke up the next day, and the number on the scale was just about the same as the previous morning.
I only make a note of my weight once a week, and minor gains on a day to day basis no longer upset me, as long as my weight keeps trending downwards.
Most of the people that I know that don't use a scale at all aren't trying to lose weight. They just go by how they feel and how their clothes fit, and if something starts getting a little tight or they don't feel as good they make a change. For me personally, that doesn't work as well because I am not that in tune with my body yet. I know I need to keep losing, but if I am not conscientious about it regularly, it is easy for me to gain weight. Also, seeing the loss in the numbers does help.0 -
