Between lack of sleep last night (I blame perimenopause for that) and this cold, I am feeling drained and there is nothing in me to run (I just want to go to sleep) I am off to get some more cold meds on my lunch instead.

Yay! 8km or 5 miles! My muscles are totally wrecked now, but I got there. I'm apparently now in the situation where my slow runs are about as fast as my fast ones (my muscles don't allow me to run fast). Small workout break coming up on Sunday and Monday as I'll be away to see a concert.

Thanks @SummerSkier & @quilteryoyo. I actually did a +5km walk on Sunday, which was why I decided to go for a couple of rest days. Those rest days helped. Today, I tried a speedy 5km treadmill run at lunch & luckily felt pretty normal, so after a few minutes, did another 6.2km slower pace treadmill run. Hope your rib muscle issue gets better quickly @SummerSkier .
Beautiful pics @ContraryMaryMary
Sorry about the layoff @kgirlhart, that's lousy news.

Thanks @SummerSkier . My labs are usually pretty good. I'm sorry you hurt your muscle - maybe that's why I put off cleaning as long as possible. It's dangerous! 😂 Good job with the run. Just be careful that you don't overdo and make it worse.
Such a pretty place for a run @ContraryMaryMary . I hope you get to hike in the snow and have fun.
Nice run @tarun_yadavA .
I hope you start feeling better soon @angf0679 .
Great running @yirara . Enjoy the concert.
Nice running @John772016 . Glad the rest days helped your back.

I got up early enough to get in a treadmill workout before heading out for the day. The first half of the run was 4/1 min run/walk. The rest was 2/1 min. Went from 4.5-5.8 mph paces. Overall avg pace for the run was 12:19 min/mile. Avg HR was 123 with a max of 146 bpm. I had a little bit of a mental struggle today, but physically, I was fine.
I went to the gym a bit later. Today was leg day. AND I had an all time PR for deadlift of 115# for 10 reps. I also did 45 # and twice at 95 # for 10 reps. Other exercises were glute machine, adductors, and kettlebell swings.
Afterwards, I worked at daycare for 5 hours. Nothing major happened….just lots of hugs and feeling like a rock star when all the kids come running and yelling "Ms Vicky, Ms Vicky."

Today was a tough day. Thanks to everyone who offered good wishes. I did get put for a 6.25 mile run this morning. It was slow, but it helped some. The next few weeks will probably be rough. I am trying to stay positive, but I was totally blindsided yesterday. I was unhappy with my job though, so I know it will be for the best in the long run.

Morning all

Good morning!
I also got in 5 miles but not at 9'57! 😂
Have fun at the concert @Yirara!
Congrats on your deadlift PR @quilteryoyo!

I woke up this morning feeling well rested and great! Nearly 9 hours of sleep can do that. Though, I have been feeling good in the mornings, but by noon is when the energy level starts to go rapidly downhill. I'm hoping to stay this way and get out at noon. The bright sun that is out today will help!

April 2025 Running
April 2 - 5km!!!!
April 3 - 4km
April 10 - 3kmTotal for April: 12km
Today's run wasn't fully what I expected. It started bad as I was annoyed at how long it was taking from GPS to kick in - on a mostly clear day! I has hoped to do more but the energy level wasn't there. It was my first run in a week and I had a cold. I think that minor cold took more out of me then I thought it did. The wind was cold which had me coughing more then normal.
One good thing though. My tights, which I had a bought in a larger size as my others ones were to small, are feeling a little loose! I am down 11 pounds and I am seeing a difference already! I did also wear jeans to work today that I last wore 2 years ago.

Right. I'm training to run 5km at 7:30/km. Looks like I kind of got there with a slow warm-up, followed by running faster for 15 minutes, a short walk and then running the rest :D I wrote earlier this week that I mess up all faster runs. I went into this one with the thought that I only need to run like the 8km run yesterday, and then I'd be fine. And I was. My 'graduation' race (it's not an actual race) is Saturday in two weeks. I think this might actually work somehow.

@angf0679 Congrats on the NSV! Feeling your clothes fit better is such a good feeling!
@Laurz9191 Major congrats on your marathon PR! 🎉🎉 I knew you would crush it!
Lastly, sorry to hear you got laid off. @kgirlhart I have fingers crossed for you that you find a job soon and this ends up being a blessing in disguise.

4/2: 1.5 miles
4/5: 4.2 miles

I think I'm officially recovered from the flu. I've had a couple of runs now that feel back to baseline. My HRV has returned to normal too. So good news there.
I'm continuing to use the 3/30 intervals and will be ramping back up to make sure I am ready for the HM in May with so little running the last few weeks.
Also went to Pilates last night for the first time in at least 3 weeks. It was so hard! That is motivation to get back to class so I won't be as sore moving forward.

I got out for 6.25 miles again this morning. It was a lovely morning, and I took it pretty easy. I still didn't sleep well and am feeling quite stressed, but the run did me some good. I did go in to work this morning for the last time and even though it was hard, I am glad to be out of there.
My flowers are starting to look really nice and that makes me feel a little better,

Congrats on the NSV with the jeans @angf0679! Sorry about those GPS issues.
I had a run last year where I had run about 5km and ended up at a intersection waiting for the light to change. Another runner came up behind me, we chatted briefly and both went off across the street with the light change, continuing along different paths. When I got home & reviewed 'my' run, it was half of mine and I'm assuming, half of his. We had both run 10km but there was half of my 10K that wasn't anywhere I had run😂. I really wanted to meet up with the other runner again and see if he had the other half of my 10K!!Sounds like it that will definitely work for you @yirara!
Glad to hear you've recovered from the flu @martaindale; it's lousy to get a spring flu when the weather's improving and you want to get out there!

Nice running @kgirlhart . Big hugs to you. Hang in there. I hope you find your dream job soon! Your flowers are beautiful.
Great run @tarun_yadavA . Have you given up on the gym?
Thanks @Teresa502 . Great run this morning.
@angf0679 I can also get irritated at how long it takes GPS to find me sometimes. Get job on getting the run in. I hope you feel better soon. Congrats on that weight loss. That is huge!
You did great @yirara .
Great run @martaindale . I'm glad you are finally over the flu.
hahaha @John772016 I wonder how you exchanged routes on your watches. So funny. Was he faster or slower than you? You are doing great so far this month.

I did a treadmill sleasy run after I got home today, Mom had a doctor's appointment and we did our grocery shopping. Mom's appointment was a 4 month follow up. Since she is still coughing after 2 weeks, she got some medicine to help finish kicking the gunk to the curb. Mom's lungs were clear, so that's great.
I really had planned to just walk, with a tad of running, but decided to run enough to keep my HR between 110 and 130 bpm. I did run/walk at 4.5/4.0 mph …started out 5/1 min, but wound up with 2/2 min. Definitely slow at an avg pace of 13:58 min/mile. Avg HR was 116 with a max of 133 bpm.

@John772016 remember when we first got smart phones and you used to be able to bump to get info to exchange? Maybe that's what happened with your run!
@kgirlhart LOVE the hibiscus. Mine got severely upset over the winter and is only slowly starting to put leaves on again and maybe a bud…… "Just keep running"…..
Today is the 100th day of the year and my big accomplishment is that I have managed to keep my avg miles over 7 to date! Which is pretty huge for me considering my avg for the first 100 days of 2024 was just over 4.

Morning all! 👋🏽
I got in 5.0M at 10'20.
@SummerSkier amazing achievement! 🙌🏽
@quilteryoyo glad Dr gave your mother the all-clear. Hopefully the coughing/allergies clear up soon?
@Laurz9191 glad to see you back out there so soon after your marathon! 🙌🏽
...and you too Sarah @martaindale after the cooties!
😊

I'm on week 2 of starting again after a couple of months off and I'm really feeling the aches. Probably need to up my protein intake. How do y'all handle the aches and pains? epsom baths does nothing for me……

That is huge @SummerSkier . Congratulations!
Thanks @tarun_yadavA . Another great run in the books.
Great job getting started again @WarmJellyfish . The heating pad and ice pack are my friends when I need something.

Missed yesterday because my son is in hospital since Wednesday with abdominal pain & no solutions. They think it’s pancreas related🙄 but sure. This has been going on since last year but worse this week. I didn’t run today because my foot was badly swollen from all the standing around. Hopefully 2moro morning
5 -
I do remember that @SummerSkier! Congrats on the 100th day achievement, Great stuff!
He was definitely faster @quilteryoyo, he made me look good! On that run I was using my old Samsung watch instead of my Garmin(needed charging). That Samsung did some really odd things with its GPS, but that was definitely the weirdest. I had never used it in any races, now I wonder what it would've done with all those other GPS signals to choose from🤔

Since I didn't have to be at work today, I didn't have to run before the sun came up. So, I guess that was nice. I got out about 8:20 this morning and ran 6.25 miles. It was good running weather and a pretty decent run.
@SummerSkier We took the hibiscus in over the winter, and it did really well this year.

So basically I've figured out some supplement timing and dosage to be able to run, some magnesium against muscle tightness and for energy, and salt against blood pooling. Easy. I changed this a tiny bit today, and running totally didn't work: super blood pooling and too much magnesium I think. Bad combination. While I could previously run 8km, I didn't even manage 2km without having to walk a bit. Basically: shite. But I got a garmin 5km badge. for this month. Will be away for the next two days, thus back to start next week.
