My motivation is to be comfortable in my own skin. To be able to walk, move, do anything without feeling disgusted with my body and love it more and more

I want to be able to enjoy retirement - I want to hike and travel and coach my grandkids and not just sit around and go to dr appointments

My motivation is to not be the guy I said I never wanted to look like…who I now look like. I’m an out of control snacker.

irl I tell people it’s because of my fear of getting diabetes. But the reality is I want to wear cute maid outfits to conventions, have some abs, and rock a midriff shirt.

First it started with wanting to look good, but also I've realized the gym has saved me from having mental breakdowns.

    • To be able to choose clothes that look nice and fit well, rather than settle for clothes that are simply big enough and don't accentuate 'bad bits'
    • To not become like my mother, severely obese and out of breath at the slightest effort, not only having a bad quality of life herself but not letting my dad enjoy his retirement fully (no traveling,...)
    • I've already lost weight and my biggest motivation to stay that way is how much lighter and free I feel. I gained weight so gradually that I didn't realise how much it was making everything more difficult - bending over to tie shoelaces, crossing my legs, being able to properly wrap a towel around me, go hiking...
    • And the extra self confidence too - when I was obese, I looked for a new job for over a year before finding one. After I lost weight I changed jobs again and it took just a few interviews - par of that may have been prejudice towards obesity, but part of it was certainly that I was more confident during interviews.
