nutrients consumed would be way better than nutrients remaining

there was an old discussion about this from 2023, but I'm just bringing it up again because I'm assuming many users would prefer a change in this feature. I'm a new user, but after looking into it, it appears that in the food diary view, you cannot see how many nutrients you have eaten for the day. Instead, it shows you nutrients remaining to achieve your goal. And it appears there's no way to change this. I have mine set to macro nutrients focused, because I'm tracking protein, fat and carbs as well as calories. In order to know how many nutrients I have consumed for the day, I would have to have my calories goal memorized, my protein goal memorized, fat and carb goals memorized. Then I have to do a calculation in my head for each one of these figures, adding or subtracting the nutrients remaining to or from my memorized goal figures. That is just crazy. One of the most basic and fundamental functions of a calorie and nutrient tracker should be to tell you how many calories and nutrients you have eaten in a day. am I missing something here?

(I'm referring to the phone app here. In my case, iOS. The website is great, and has all the necessary information very well presented. But I plan and hope to be using my phone much more than my computer to track data, because it's so much more convenient.)

If I'm understanding you correctly, I think I have a fix for you. It may be a few more steps than you're hoping for though. At the bottom of your diary entry, click the nutrition button. on the next screen, click "nutrients" at the top, and make sure your view is set to "day view". It then shows the total you've consumed that day, your goal for the day, and how many are left. Does that make sense? And is that what you're wanting to see?

thanks a lot, Tami, that is helpful! I see there's a lot of great information there, including what I was looking for, nutrients consumed. And it has how much of a particular nutrient you had at each meal, which is kind of interesting. but It is a few more steps than I was hoping for. I think the diary should look like this at the top:

    Nutrients consumed

    xx xx xx xxxx

    fat protein. net carbs. calories

Nutrients remaining (this is what is already there. really I don't need this because I can figure it out if I know how much I have consumed, but since many people probably like it and are used to it, I assume it would be better to leave it there .)

    xx xx xx xxxx

    fat protein. net carbs. calories

Both the consumed and remaining nutrients are also already there at the bottom of the diary page, when the phone is put in landscape orientation . . . at least in the Android version.

Yes, mine looks funny because most columns have negatives remaining. 😆 "Totals" is what was eaten; "remaining" is what's left . . . or in my case, what's over the target value.
