I'm taking Zepbound. The only side effect I've had is mild constipation. I'm working on improving my diet. More protein and lots of water. So far, ive lost 28lbs and feel good.

I’ve been on the compound of Zepbound since June of 2024 SW 195 CW 128 GW 120. 68 years old, 5-0 tall and female.
So now that you have the stats let me tell you what a life changer GLP-1 has been for me! I have struggled with my weight all my life reaching a high of 235 back when my kids were little. Compulsive, emotional eating was a constant struggle. I gained and lost 100’s of pounds but diets always made me feel deprived and a failure at managing my compulsions. Enter GLP-1. For the first time in my life I can choose wisely and not feel deprived. I can have 1 cookie and be satisfied if I really want one. I can often pass up things that I would eat compulsively till they were gone. I can experience all that food has to offer without overeating or binging. I have for the first time in my life taken a bite of a rich sugary dessert and thought”wow that’s too sweet!” And left it. I take home half or more of a restaurant meal but often never eat it. I am eating to live for the first time in my life! The way GLP-1 quiets my food noise is nothing short of a miracle. I am also able to walk 3 miles most days without huffing and puffing. I can go up and down stairs multiple times! Next will be strength training and working on balance since I am 68 after all!
I’m here because WW is greedy and along with the cost of the drug ( thanks big pharmacy 😠) additional money for a simple app to track nutrition and weight is unnecessary. I do need to make sure I get proper nutrition because there are days when I’m just not hungry. I’ll be going into maintenance sometime this year and I look forward to seeing how that looks!

I was on first Semaglutide, then Terzepatide (because it was supposed to be 10x better). I've been on the meds for over a year. I lost a decent amount of weight with few side effects. I am drinking a gallon of water/day (yes with electrolytes added) - I think that cuts down on the side effects. Worst side effect was acid reflux every time I bent over. I lost steadily, but verrrryyy slowly. Then, I went on a cruise to Alaska and when I returned, had to deal with Hurricane Milton, so was off the meds for closer to two or three weeks. I gained 13 lbs. I went back on the meds and I did lose about 6 of those, then just stopped losing. SInce October, I have not been below my pre cruise weight - always about 3-6 lbs over. I would gain a pound, lose a pound every single week for months. To be fair, during Jan-April (esp March/April) I had some kind of food/drink related event EVERY. SINGLE. WEEKEND. But I stayed true to the program the rest of the week. I finally made the decision with the practitioner to go off of it for a while and try either Keto or low carb until after Easter. I've also recommitted to my vigorous exercise program. I work out (not killing myself, but about 30 mins/day) six days a week. It's a mix between muscle and cardio. Now, it looks like the GLP1s are not going to be available or will be so expensive, it will be unattainable. I'm sticking to my low carb diet and hoping I start losing what I've already gained back from not taking the GLP1s. I'd love to better understand how I can naturally produce more GLP1s. I'm not ever looking for a quick fix and I've dieted/lifestyle changed my entire life. When my doctor warned me about GLP1s, he predicted that I'd gain weight as soon as I went off. He told me to make lifestyle changes. So frustrating. I asked him what I should change - eating 1,200 calories a day? Exercising daily 6 x/week? Avoiding alcohol? Drinking water? I'm doing all the right things. Something is broke in my body and I want to fix it. Just don't know how. GLP1s are the bandaid, not the cure.

I am not sure what GPL1 is. However, I have been drinking a tablespoon a day of organic unfiltered apple cider vinegar (Bragg brand) a day mixed with water and it's been helping me in sooooo many ways. Do some research on ACV and you will see the benefits. In addition, I avoid alcohol. I drink 8 glasses of water a day. I eat healthy weekdays (I try to stay low carb and low fat as much as possible) and cheat only a tiny bit on weekends. I exercise 3-5 days per week with a mix of strength training and cardio. I also take creatine and BCAA supplements. Hope my advice helps others.

this is my second time on terzepitide.
The first time I lost about 8-10 lbs with no effort & mistakenly thought that the drug alone would be all I needed. Eventually went off because I stalled after that original loss. Regained it.
The second time I’ve started walking 5 miles a day every day (split in morning and evening). Stick with 1500 calories plus a few hundred extra for the exercise. Diary/Log everything every day! Started March 1 and down 18 lbs. I’m dedicated to this way of managing the loss. I’ve 80 more pounds to go.
the drug “gave me my brain back”. I decide what & when to eat and not driven by cravings.3 -

I have been on Tirzepitide since Aug and have lost 50 lbs. I can honestly say that those who say that we are taking the easy way out has not done their research. You still have to do the work, but the way that this medicine quiets all of the food noise…If I have to take a shot once a week for the rest of my life, that alone is worth it. I thought it was normal that food spoke to you from the other room…the focus this medicine gives me is amazing and as long as I see a little progress each week, I will put in the work I need to get to my goal!!

You bring up a good point in this post - so many people think they can take the drug and NOT change diet/lifestyle. The drug is a TOOL ONLY. If you don't still change your lifestyle - increase physical activity, better diet - the tool won't help a lot. And, the reason people regain after stopping the drug is they haven't changed their lifestyle!
Congrats on using this tool in the right way. You are doing the right thing by focusing on healthy lifestyle and using the tool to stop the cravings/food hunger of weight loss.

I am 58, a 58-year-old woman, 5'8". I started compound Tirzepatide in mid-Sept 2024 at 213 lbs wearing a size 14-16. Today, I weigh 140, size comfortable fitting 6, and am nearing my goal of 130-135. These last few pounds are the toughest, but I am still losing, so that is all that matters. I ate between 1150-1300 calories the whole time and allowed myself a few days of going over (1500-1800) a few times a month. I was a food addict and had no self-control before this medication, and I was also pre-diabetic. All my lab results are good, and I now eat to live, not live to eat, which is what I did all my life.

Started Tirzepatide compound 2 months ago. SW 272, CW 247, GW 180. Using MFP to log everything—for someone who is a bit OCD its super helpful. Weight loss the 2nd month has been quite a bit slower than the first so we’re increasing to 5ml. The energy I felt at first I thought was more of a placebo effect—starting something new, etc., but can definitely feel the smaller amounts of food providing more energy so I am able to exercise more… Of course, transitioning from winter to warm weather mode helps a bit too.
I just learned that the compounding is going to stop so I’m a bit nervous and trying my best to reduce carbs… Sort of a pseudo/keto diet and trying to increase my exercise levels.
The last two months I have switched to higher protein, whole wheat, plants and seeds— things that would really give me stomach issues in the past I’m now able to process without any of the past negative effects. I do feel a bit bloated and feel full most of the time with no cravings until the end of the week, so I know the GLP-1 is helping my brain process my food needs better. I really have to force myself to eat which requires more planning and strategizing so I hope before I lose my prescription to the compound that I can build some better habits.1 -
I started on Mounjaro at 63. I’m 5’1” & was 196. I was on it for 1 1/2 years and lost 30 pounds. Then the shortage hit and I was off it for three months and I regained 20 lbs. I started with a telehealth company and since my new insurance wouldn’t cover name brand I tried compound Semaglutide for three months me horrible diarrhea so I switched to compound Tirzepatide. I’m now 65 and I’ve been on it for 10 months and lost 10 lbs. I have fallen off the regular exercise and between vacations, parties etc my eating has also been horrible. The only side effect I am having is mild constipation, which I never had this bad when I was on the name brand. I need to recalculate my calories and macros and get serious about my exercise and food intake.

I’m on Wegovy. I previously have battled with really bad compulsive eating, and was treated with vyvanse for binge eating disorder (as well as adhd) in the past however it did not help insane cravings/compulsion to eat and eat it all lol. Also have multiple chronic health issues. Since going on Wegovy, I did not set out that it was a miracle drug. I knew that it doesn’t lose weight for you. My hope was to get my eating compulsions out of control (such intense cravings for sugar, drowsy spells always feeling need for sugar to pick me back up, etc). I set out with NO expectations of this except to see if it makes me sicker. I started it, dealt with extreme fatigue and nausea from it. Gaviscon helped, and I just went about my life not even thinking about food. Didn’t notice anything on 0.25, or 0.5mg. I get sick a LOT from certains foods, not vomiting but sick to stomach/bowels/laryngeal reflux (also celiac, sensitive to high fodmaps, various food triggers like stuff with peel, red tomato based sauces, too much dairy, greasy foods, etc).
Adjusting to meds I wasn’t really hungry. I take meds on Wednesday (wegovy wednesday lol) typically felt a bit ill later Thurs/all day Friday I was tired. I felt bloated, almost like gassy but not. I thought I would push through and then I started being like ew yuck, that makes me sick I don’t want to eat that anymore. The idea of eating greasy stuff started to turn my stomach. Maybe cause I used to get sick from it, but then still have compulsion to eat…it started changing how I feel about food. Cravings for real food. Packaged foods are tasting wayy too salty or way too sweet. I started noticing that I did not have these intense cravings anymore (“food noise”). I wasn’t having drowsy spells where I craved chocolate or sugar, or just because I wanted it because it tastes too good. It started being okay if I have a piece or two, not the whole family sized bar. The food I ate started to become simpler, and the idea of scarfing pasta etc made me queasy. I started to feel worse at changing from 0.5 to 1mg Wegovy but it was short term. I suddenly started to feel …more regulated? Knowing what I like to eat, when, how much…not focusing on food so much, and feeling better day-to-day. I have been on it for 5 months and have lost about 40 lbs so far. The biggest thing is that is does show me I’m full now which I never ever had before.

I started Zepbound 3 Weeks ago. SW 228 CW 219 GW undetermined
I’ve been working with a weight management doctor for a couple years and battled with my relationship with food. Starting Zepbound has felt like that extra step needed to quiet the food noise. I’m more easily able to eat for fuel. I am struggling with mild constipation, hoping upping my fiber intake will help. Excited to continue on this journey

I used MFP to lose over 60# (from 297 down to 237#) back around 2011ish. I hated every second of it. I was staying under 250# for about 5 years, then around 2019 I started having heart arrythmia issues that have seriously limited my ability, and motivation to exercise. Back then I was using my bicycle almost exclusively as transportation….I'd start my car maybe once every 2-3 weeks. I honestly don't have the physical or mental energy to make that journey again…and even with all that effort i stalled well short of my goal. So time to try something different:
Male, 6'5" 62yrs. SW 287 CW 274 GW 205 I have been on compounded Tirzepitide for a month. The first two weeks I lost 14#, but only a total of 16 after three weeks. The initial large weight loss was probably due to dehydration. I then got seriously constipated and that took a while to resolve.
After three weeks I had to skip a week of the Tirz because I had a medical procedure* and they were worried that my stomach wouldn't be empty for the anesthesia, creating risk of aspiration. So I got to experience some fade with skipping a dose. It honestly wasn't that awful….I seem to be pretty sensitive to the GLP1 and maybe there was enough hanging around, but also just knowing I didn't actually need to overeat helped a lot too.
My weight has been bouncing up and down in a 5# range for the last two weeks…between constipation, skipping a week, losing a couple days exercise recovering from surgery. At first I was seriously undereating…Like 3500 cal/ day deficit undereating**. For the first time in my life I had to consciously pay attention to eat enough. From what I have been reading, this can trip my body into a "starvation" mode, where it starts conserving energy and hinders weight loss. So I got back on MFP after a very long absence. My heart arrythmia was also causing me sweat like an entire sounder of pigs in August. This meant I was having to drink well over a gallon of water a day, and my electrolytes were probably pretty wacked as result.
I'm using MFP and targeting 2#/week loss. With the tirz, hitting the food targets is not a struggle at all, and I can easily undershoot a few hundred calories a day. So far my weight is still bouncing up and down, but this is only the second day after my procedure, and the first day I have walked the 6+ miles/day I had worked up to. (I'm retired now, so I have time to do that!)
MFP was effective for me back then because I hated using it so badly that I would often just skip meals to avoid having to log them.
It doesn't seem nearly so bad now. I think it is because with the tirz logging my meals doesn't get me obsessing over food like it used to. Besides skipping meals, I would often eat the same things again and again, just to make logging them quicker so I wouldn't have to be thinking about food, and then only food that I was already sick of!
In addition to keeping track of macro nutrients, I am using MFP to track my fiber intake, which seems to be critical if I am to avoid another awful bout of constipation. Between lots of chia seeds and Mg-citrate capsules (a very mild laxative) that is under control.
It probably partly the weight loss, and better diet, but my blood pressure is MUCH lower with the tirz. Actually I could see it creeping upward day-by-day when I skipped a dose, then it dropped the day after I got back on the tirz. This is very good, and if it persists I will talk to my cardiology team (I have a team because If I want to see a particular doc, the wait time doubles) about maybe getting off my BP med. It is not a primary indication, but lowering BP is a recognized side effect of the tirz.
I'm really optimistic. According to the doc, the procedure went wonderfully, and for the first time in a year I didn't have to keep coaching myself up the grades when I was out walking this morning. (No, keep going, you can rest at the next shady spot….maybe the one after that…now you are almost at the top, might as well keep going.) My shirt wasn't soaking wet when I got home, and I didn't have to get naked and stand in front of a fan. Instead I made potato pancakes for breakfast, and only ate ~1/3 of the batch instead of all of it like I would have before the tirz. I had almost stopped cooking stuff, because it is such a pain to cook one serving, and no way was I going to leave any leftovers.. looking forward to cooking more!
*Catheter ablation for heart arrythmia.
** At 6'5" 250Lb+ I burn through a LOT of calories.
