    Set up SMART goals.

SMART goals are specific, measurable, achievable, realistic, and time-bound.

You realize that this is social media right here, I hope? 😉😆

My advice would be - to the extent feasible - to make as easy and sustainable a plan as possible, so that motivation is not much required. Focus on finding new, permanent, practical, tolerable, and ideally enjoyable health-promoting routine habits. It's a different mindset from "lose weight" or "get fit" as if those things were projects with an end date. Routine habits are a power tool for long-term weight management and fitness.

There's no way I'm going to stay "motivated" for the rest of my natural life, short as that may be at this age. As an unapologetically hedonistic aging hippie flake, I have an extremely limited budget of motivation, willpower, or discipline. Yet somehow, after around 30 years of overweight/obesity, I managed to lose from obese to a healthy weight in under a year, and I've been at a healthy weight for 9+ years since . . . and fitter than average for my demographic for even longer.

Different things work for different people. Maybe my philosophy or approach won't work for others. But it has worked pretty well so far for me.

Wishing success to all, whatever the path: The rewards are worth the thought and effort.
