So depressed

I have decided to try and make myself feel better I want to loose 2 stone.

I used to never have a problem with my weight and could eat more or less whatever I wanted.

The only real change to my diet is alcohol, which I have used as a coping mechanism through grief, and stress.

I have decided yesterday that I am cutting out alcohol completely as I think it is the major product that has caused my weight gain and it has spiralled to I feel bad therefore I drink, I drink therefore I feel bad.

I am going to go onto the Keto diet as I was really successful with this about 2 years ago when I wanted to loose half a stone. I lost it quickly and it stayed off.

To look at me you wouldn't think I was overweight, but it's the muscle and tone loss which is making me really unhappy.

I am currently 11 stone and I want to get to 9, which I considered overweight at the time.... 9 seemed to be the natural weight I just couldn't seem to get past.

If anyone else is going through this, basically self sabotage due to grief, would be great to partner up to see if we can do it.

Good on you for making changes!

May I offer some advice? Weightloss is not done by a specific diet, but by a calorie deficit. How you create it is up to you. The best way is one you can adhere to, and possibly stick to after you've lost the weight. What I'm trying to say is that if you enjoy eating keto, and want to keep it up when you lost the weight then go for it. If you see this as a temporary measure then maybe eat the way you want to eat after weightloss, and this first period is also a good opportunity to learn how much to eat. It's also a good oppotunity to try out a few things, and if they don't work for your then do something else. The difficult part is not losing weight, but to keep it off. And changing the way you eat at exactly that moment might lead to regaining because you don't know how much to eat of the after-diet food, and what keeps you full when.

I understand coping mechanisms. I lost a close family member and I typically turn to foods (primarily sweets) and it added a lot of weight. I went up to 255 ibs (18 Stone) and now im down to 220 (15 stone) by using this app and regular exercise. My goal is 190 ibs (13.5 stone).

Getting yourself into a good mental state can help you a lot in weight loss, it has certainly helped me. My work encourages us to get up and walk, to journal, and to find a community/support system that will push you towards your goals. The community will also keep you accountable, even when we don't want it!

This is not to say we will have our shortcomings. When (not if) you fail, show yourself some grace to get you back on track! You've got this!
